Livewire! Yesterday's headlines today. Brought to you by....

The Emoji Movie. Now playing in theaters unless Hunter March wants to make a sequel.

And now from our Game Show Live! Newsroom, here comes Pierre Kelly!

Me: Thank you Madi2theMax, welcome to Livewire!  Today I want to give you news and do an off-topic prance, and add in humor if you have a chance, because we're in Maple Heights in a shopping center and that's where all my co-workers research the best game show stories, so come in, and take that "Help Wanted" sign off the door, if you want to get live, this is exactly what you're looking for. Classic and current game shows on every TV, which one will you see? I got something from the snack machine and it's time to cross that bridge to a land of news.......with sass.

BEauty and a Beast

A famous brainbox from hit TV quiz show The Chase is to host a Lincoln pub quiz next month.
The quiz will take place at The Original Bierkeller on Silver Street, where he will also offer a meet and greet.
Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast due to both his stature and his surname (Labbett sounds like the French la bête, meaning “the beast”), will host the new German bar’s quiz on Monday, August 21 which runs from 7pm.
Entry is £2 and a team can field up to six members. Players will be able to meet and greet Mark from 10pm.
The Beast is one of the two original chasers on the ITV show which began in 2009 and had previously appeared on BBC shows Eggheads and Mastermind.
Participants of The Chase compete against a professions quizzer called The Chaser who tries to prevent them winning a cash prize.
The Bierkeller’s paperless quiz allows users to use an app on their mobile phones to answer questions.
Fellow Chaser Shaun Wallace hosted the quiz earlier on this month at the Bierkeller which opened in June.

List this.  Alex Trebek is an OG game show host. But do you know what he did before and during Jeopardy!? We have 7 things he hosted it according to Parade magazine and here we go.

Number 7.....

Music Hop. Giving American Bandstand a canadian counterpart, he had a live band and had an early start to his career.

Number 6....

The Wizard of Odds. When Alex came to the US, he had one short-lived on NBC in 1973. Oh, and Alan Thicke wrote the theme, too. Burt Sugarman later did Celebrity Sweepstakes and Whew!,, not to mention his creation, The Midnight Special.

Number 5....

Double Dare.  Growing up, I saw the version with Marc Summers, but alas, I never seen the other version....until now. This involved isolation booths and PHDs, not Sundae Slides and one-ton human hamster wheels and physical challenges.

Number 4.

High Rollers. In 1974 and again in 1978 except 1987 with Wink Martindale, he made the game of craps more entertaining and added  prizes to make it a Heatter-Quigley hit.

Number 3....

Battlestars. Where did Jerry Seinfeld find fame? Right here on this program which was like Hollywood Squares....but with triangles.

Number 2.....

Classic Concentration.   In 1973, the Goodson-Todman company garnered the rights to Concentrationw ith Jack Narz in syndication. By 1987, it was brought back on its original home, NBC and became a daytime favorite.

And the #1 show he hosted is.........

A 1997 episode of Wheel of Fortune in which Pat & Vanna were contestants. I'm not lying, it was an APril Fools show.

And now for your Game Show Live! Crowning moment of awesomeness of excellence.

2 teachers met during the Jeopardy! teachers tournament and guess what......they got hitched on July 7th and neither one won the tourney, but they both won their hearts nontheless. So, Maryanne Lewell and Michael Townes.......you get the crown.

(song stops)

It's a rainy day, but I want Red Light Challenge to come on and bring some sunshine in our lives since they were here this past Wednesday, so here's the Double Dare dynamic duo taking us into the weekend. DO it!

That's all for now, but remember one thing:  How Many clues can Alex Trebek read in 15 minutes? The world may never know.

So until next time and all the time....play on playas.
