The Catchphrase heard 'Round the World

(Why are Tara Jayn, James Brent Issacs and Kate Hackett in a  webseries? Well, you get the idea. It's Social Medium. See it for yourself over at http://social-medium.com/)

VO: This is GSN The Know. The most informed and entertained blog in the United States of America. Now, from the WIlton-North building, here is the man about games, Pierre Kelly.

Me: Everyone tries to find something on television, but GSN picks the tempo and the groove up day & night when you feel like it. You can't stop being addictive to it. It takes you back to those pre-Facebook days and GSN knows it's hot. Everybody's watching it, so let's join in and begin with....

The Starting Line.

Last week, we told you what GSN gave you on Thanksgiving. For those joining in for the very first time, here's what the lineup looked like....

*On Thursday (Thanksgiving) from 5-9pm: Idiotest
*On Friday from 10am-8pm: Family Feud (Harvey)
*On Saturday latenight from 12am-3am: Hellevator (reruns)

Now we think it's much of a disappointment and GSN knew it would be a slap in the face to the viewers thinking they want to show classics, but no, they go modern. So what would happen if GSN did a marathon that weekend?

Well, on Turkey Day, it'll be 18 hours of Dawson & Combs Feud all day. Black Friday would be either Minute to Win it or Idiotest for all 12 hours. Let Saturday stay as is. That way, we can all sit down and enjoy our holidays.

After the break, what's the new slogan GSN getting into? That & more after we pause so that we could buy Christmas decorations for our offices. Don't be mad, bro!

(song fades out)

Now that I took a long walk out of Target across the parking lots and zipping past the crosswalk to get back in the building with my decorations in tow, we're back. Fans were shocked at the thanksgiving marathons and this poem made Hailey Bright win my heart........almost.

Hey, I just met you...
And this is crazy....
So here's my Chocolate Pen...
Comment it, maybe?

One commenter put it this way....

"Classics fans are screwed. On the heels of successful younger-skewing originals like Hellevator and Skin Wars, expect to see a lot more stuff like that and a lot less traditional studio-based game shows (except for Harvey Feud, of course). Obviously most young people today are entertained by the sophomoric, low-brow humor that shows like Harvey Feud and Hellevator deliver, rather than the intelligence and sophisticated wit that shows like $25,000 Pyramid and What's My Line delivered "back in the day."

We'll see what the Christmas marathons bring. We got spoiled with some good treats last Christmas, but I'm not as hopeful about this year. Hopefully we'll at least get our annual treating of What's My Line for a couple of weeks, but I'm not holding my breath."

Darn skippy. This is what GSN is today and years to come. So why can't next year make a classics marathon all by itself? It also says....

"Like I said before, let's just hope and pray that Buzzr will have a better Thanksgiving marathon then GSN's pathetic excuse this year."

I hope Buzzr will and speaking of Buzzr, they swapped Card Sharks from day to nighttime starting next Monday. Just a note from Dr. Buzzr when I got back from lunch. But back to commenting. Adam Lentz says.....

"These marathons are pathetic if you ask me. GSN didn't even try this time. I'm beginning to think that the executives there are just lazy. I would enjoy a Match Game, Pyramid, or Classic Feud marathon on Thanksgiving rather than just additional hours of Idiotest. For Black Friday, they could have had a regular schedule. Adding Harvey Feud doesn't make sense. Really disappointed this year. Hopefully the Christmas marathons turn out to be better, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If they don't bring back the traditional airings of What's My Line or I've Got A Secret, then count me out."

Me too, and he is right, marathons ARE pathetic. Can't in 2016 we need GSN to get PYL on Black Friday. That's another idea I would've had in mind. Scott Rahner of GSNN BlogSpot wraps it up with....

"This is exactly what I am getting at. A Family Feud marathon was expected, even Idiotest and Hellevator I expected in the mix.

But GSN just left the Thanksgiving 8am-5pm block open with regular programming. It would have nice to see a marathon of a show that is not currently on the schedule (and by that I do NOT mean Skin Wars)."

GSN should've had one show to marathon on. Maybe Christmas can change.

As far as Hellevator is concerned....

8:00pm Hellevator (new): 215,000 total viewers/92,000 18-49 viewers; down 25% in total viewers/down 45% in 18-49 viewers from last week; down 64% in total viewers/down 53% in 18-49 viewers from lead-in

Talk about a big ouch. With Thanksgiving season and soon the holidays approaching, is there a turnaround for it?

Skin Wars will be in January of 2016. That'll be when the Christmas decorations are disposed. Expect more of what people can't get enough of.......bodypainting. It's expected to take place as will Idiotest, in which they taped their new episodes this month. That too, may be expected.

Winsanity has a new host......Donald Faison. You may remember him from Clueless, the one where Alicia Silverstone starred in. He also was on Scrubs that aired on ABC & NBC throughout its run. he also took part in Ingrid Michaelson's "Time Machine" video this past year. He currently stars in the TV Land program "The Exes." Hope he'll follow suit DeRay Davis couldn't follow last year when production begins next year.

Now we told you GSN would get a slogan and that is:

We're Game.

Those are 2 words and that's it. However, "All Play, All Day" is still my personal favorite slogan. But my Facebook Friend TJ Neyland had fun with these rejected slogans. He created all 10, so we narrowed it down to 7. Why 7? Well, Nostalgia Critic does 11 in a list and 10 belongs to Sportscenter and Letterman, but I chose 7 because everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Not to mention it's for entertainment purposes only. Music please, Lizi!

Here's one you might try....

What about this one?

Here's one....

But we got more.

And...

And to wrap this puppy up....

song stops)

Now the 2nd intermission presented by swagbucks.com. It's more of....

Nanno-Vember. This time, our GTK Soda Girl tackles a song done by Pitch Perfect 2 star Hailee Steinfeld. So....let's go.

Time once again for.....

THE TOP 20 GSN ORIGINALS OF ALL-TIME!!!!!!

After a long absence, we narrow it down to the final 5. And thanks to your votes, here's #5...

For close to 2 seasons, Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck took the classic format and made it all-new for everyone. They eliminated the 1st question round to make way for a straight-up Big Board round to start with. One thing they lacked were extra spins. PYL needed it to make it a daytime hit. Todd Newton was the new Peter Tomarken of our day and in fact, the latter returned for one question round to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Michael Larsen's reign of terror and even hosted the pilot up now on Wink Martindale's Youtube channel. But Double Whammy squares in round 2 meant extra punishment like Nickelodeon and even a Big Bank in the second season meant you'd answer a query for all the money.....if you win the game like PYL does too. Whammy! It's number...

Five.

And with that, we say goodbye. Please take some time to #PrayForParis as we reflect on the attacks of Paris, France. Our hearts are with them.
