VO: This is GSN The Know. The most informed and entertained blog in the United States of America. Now, from the WIlton-North building, here is the man about games, Pierre Kelly.
Me: What's better than The FLash & Arrow on the CW?.......Baggage On The Road and Idiotest on GSN of course, and I'm here to give you the 411 on the network. Dialing up....
The starting Line.
Anyone know why GSN is successful? Anyone? Anyone? Well....
Last year was the network's most-watched year ever in cable primetime among total viewers, Adults 18+, Women 18+, People 25-54 and Women 25-54[1]. This is also the third consecutive year of growth for the 20-year old cable network, bucking the current downward trend in viewership being felt by other well-established cable channels.
This is all according to broadwayworld.com. I guess GSN is really growing. To top it all off....
2014 tying with 2013 as the most watched year ever in total day among total viewers; growing their P25-54 and W25-54 for a third consecutive year in cable primetime, which is a first for the network; and ending 2014 on a strong note by delivering its most watched fourth quarter ever in total day among total viewers and in cable primetime among W18+[2].
So with the new year already here, there's no stopping this little train now.

With that we pause. After the break, Baggage makes a move and #19 on the countdown. I ask you not to go away.

Hey there dudes & dudettes, let's talk Baggage On The Road moving.
BOTR must've taken a whack in the head in ratings. This week will be on punishment. Why? Because Baggage On The Road is making a move to 10pm and 10:30pm ET on Wednesday nights via GSN's online schedule. Steve Harvey's Family Feud will take the 9pm ET hour on Wednesdays and new episodes of Idiotest remain in the 8pm ET hour. Hope it'll change.
In its 20 year history, GSN was the only Game Show Network, but there is competition going on....

Yep, Fox O&Os are launching Buzzr in the fall. It'll be showing all classic Fremantle owned game shows. Even TPIR will be there too. Sadly the "model Ban' rule under Bob Barker is in effect. So why can't a network take a shot at GSN. First things first, I made up a little poem.....
Hey, I just met you....
And this is crazy....
So here's my RabbitTv USB key....
Comment it, maybe?
Okay, let's start with dth1971.....
Why didn't Sony's Antenna TV put in game show classics like Joker's Wild or Tic Tac Dough to its schedule? Or even the MGM This TV put Peter Marshall Hollywood Squares on its schedule?
I Don't know. Maybe The B&E library may come to GSN one day. Casey Abell of GSF has this....
Buzzr starts out with a whole lot more households than GSN began with, and with the muscle of Fox's O&O stations behind it. Scott Rahner (and maybe some GSN execs) may want to pretend it's not a big deal. Yeah, right. For the first time ever, GSN will get competition from a nationally distributed game show network.
No, nothing to see here at all. Just move along.
Who is Scott kidding? Not me, anyway. And I bet he's not kidding David Goldhill, either. For two decades GSN has had the playing field all to itself as the nation's only game show network. Now there's a new kid in town backed by Fox and Fremantle, not exactly small-time operations.
I really do think this spells the end for GSN's already shrinking block of oldies. Oh, maybe a weekday hour or an occasional special might survive. But if Buzzr rolls out a long list of old shows - as I think they will at the start, anyway - GSN will probably figure, okay, let them have that sub-niche. It's not exactly the most lucrative sub-niche, anyway, as Tylenol found out.
And I also think the new competition will move Sony to freshen up GSN, possibly with recent Wheel of Fortune and an even more ambitious development slate.
We'll see how things go as Buzzr gears up. But to dismiss the new network as no big deal for GSN is completely unconvincing.
Copy that, Roger. Tammy Cox to finish it out......
Okay, But there's more in.....

We should all be thankful that the budgets and projected revenues from this project directly benefit our interest as fans of the genre, and this excellent opportunity, to enjoy, record, log, track, recap, guide, etc. should not be taken for granted. Thank you, Fremantle! Great start to the day.
And yes, she no longer watches the network. Why? Lots & lots of Harvey. Julia Zion says.....
I don't think this changes GSN at all. There's a reason why Antenna TV and TV Land both play Three's Company. There are different contracts for broadcast and cable channels. So, this is basically a new revenue stream for Fremantle. That's all.
We'll soon see this fall. Duane Elkof says.....
It'd be nice for a network to air them w/out speed-ups, and with departing tags and closing credits for a change!
Me too, but Buzzerblog says.....
It's not really negative. It's common sense. Shows have to be sped up to meet current commercial times. And literally no one except a handful, at most, of online fans (I'd literally wager in the area of 25-50 people) care about old credits and that stuff. Let's be reasonable here.
Might as well try Youtube. But I want to know what you think. I'll give you the contacts at the end of the 3rd period.
(song stops)
Now the 2nd intermission presented by swagbucks.com. Here's a 90's jam from Paperboy....

Actually Buzzr could work, and work well.
With so many people going back to broadcast TV and internet(or those w/ cable
but no GSN, as WOW dropped them a couple years ago), these secondary channels
are the wave of the future. Plus, it's basically free. Since Fremantle already
owns what they will broadcast, cost is secondary. It won't take much to turn a
profit and then slowly build to a higher and higher level. And surely they won't
have any direct competition like ME, Cozi and Antenna are to one another. I have
an idea for a niche channel that isn't listed above or in the works. My only
problem is I lack a couple million bucks to get it off the ground. It's a gold
mine waiting to drop if anyone has the funds to back me and the hubby.

THE
TOP 20 GSN ORIGINALS OF ALL-TIME!!!!!!
This time we go into the vault.....
Make that an actual Vault, because "As Seen On" is what I'm about to talk about here. Just because it wasn't a game show, 2 guys pull out a mish-mash of original game show clips. This was before the narration and the celebrities ranting people. (i.e. Game Show Flashback with Ben Gleib) By the end, all you saw was what to watch for on GSN. If this were around today, it isn't going to work. All in all, it was a fun show. As Seen on is.......
