(theme fades out)

Welcome to GSN The Know. Hope you survived a cold snap somewhere in your area and last night's winter wreckage. It's now Valentine's day and....

(Malcontent brings in steak dinner)

Oh look, Malcontent in for Alicia who is on maternity leave bringing on dinner straight to you from the Video Arcade Lounge, right across from a strip mall on an outstretched highway in the middle of nowhere. Thanks, Malcontent. And it's February 14th, meaning that we got a romantically harp song to play at halftime, but we got quarters 1 & 2 to play starting with the Ratings Report. Malcontent will bring up the numbers for that....

Just Howie Mandel and 26 models helped Fifth Grader out of the top 10 and taking the top slot. Sherriwed took second and Feud, a top contender from last week, ends up on some spots of the top 10. The bottom 10 looks like this:

Card Sharks at #204 kicks it off and is scattered all over the list, but there is a tie for #207, and that is.....The Wednesday late showings of the same show along with Jeopardy! from Sunday. However with DWTS at the bottom of the barrel, it ended up.....

At 50, 12 spots up from last week as the high-rated showing.....on Saturday. Where else did they place the whole weekend?

The reason why DWTS was shown on late night was at fifty, but the second-highest came at 96 on the same day. Everything else was the same as is with some joining Card Sharks in the vast wasteland. That's the end of the first quarter...,

(Malcontent leaves)

And he left with a Valentine's Day card. Now to the second quarter and DWTS on Fridays didn't mix. What did they do to help the solution? Bring back Flashback Fridays. Starting this week at 7 CST, The $100,000 Pyramid will replace it and DWTS will also shrink wrap a few hours for GSN programming late at night. That's what you get for putting DWTS on weekends. Some more news now....

http://www.newsmax.com/US/Woolery-CPAC-fire-congress/2012/02/13/id/429304

Mr. Lingo talking about why congress should be fired to create jobs. Something to think about. And we have a new feature entitled "Great Moments on DWTS History." Here's one:

That'll end the second quarter. Time for halftime, with that, here's harpist/pianist Evangeline Hall with this tune.....

And now we move into quarter 3. We have praise for those who wanted Flashback Fridays to come back on the GSN Forums:

"I'm quite pleased, and this was a smart business move. Primetime ratings were being dragged down on Friday nights, and a strong Classic such as Pyramid will pull that back up. Less hours of DWTS should mean more viewers will watch it on the weekend. If that doesn't happen, then they're in real trouble, and will probably pull the show from those days as well, and have to chalk it up as another loss and move on, hopefully with their shirt. And then look forward to more proven Classics in the future!"

Agreed. Next one....

"I tried to tell you it was going to be a bomb. There's two major reasons for this. One is: It's too new. Don't look too much into this. When a show airs that was on network TV in the last six months, it's too damn new. You still remember what happened beforehand.

Second, and most importantly, and I hope that the people in GSN's programming department eventually understand this. reality shows are only good for one shot out of the cannon. What the hell were they thinking putting this show on twenty hours a week? Did they really think that GSN's audience would A) want to watch this stuff THAT much, and B ) would want to watch the same episodes every four to five weeks?"

Come on, Fox Reality used to do it all the time even though it reran stuff from the last decade. Here's your next comment:

"If Flashback Fridays still exists after $100K Pyramid's lease expires, I think it will be devoted to Card Sharks, Dawson's Feud, and Match Game."

And this time, let the lease rats play every episode from beginning to the show's end entirely. Alright, now on to the DWTS Ratings talk starting with....

"Sorry but those ratings are terrible. I can't help but laugh. It's funny, classics like Match Game, 25/100K Pyramid and Card Sharks can do better than Dancing with the Ex-Stars. That's probably because they're true game shows. Maybe even add Super Password, Password Plus and Press Your Luck."

It shows you why classics can put Dancing with z-listers out of place. Here's one....

"If you check the weekend schedule, they're practically airing it 24/7 anyway, when they're not airing Karn's Feud. Which is why I watch other things like Food Network and HGTV then. I'll stick with Mike Holmes and Guy Fieri."

Besides, why would you watch Phineas & Ferb, So Random and Jessie for z-listers tripping and falling on a ballroom floor? How about one more? This time from the official GSN FB page. Never in the blog have I posted it:

Kathleen Yates tells us to stop playing MG 74 and FF From 1980. She says they've been playing them to death and the network doesn't have enough.

Someday down the road when the classics return, it will be more than enough. End of three quarters and I like to end this thing with a timeless classic:

"When Chuck Barris wanted something more of a parlor game Nick Nicholson and Roger Muir created, the result was the Newlywed Game. The premise was to predict what the married couples have said. It's been a staple for 4 decades under Bob Eubanks along with Paul Rodriguez in the late eighties and Gary Kroeger in the nineties. With GSN getting their own version, Carnie Wilson was the first to host this thing and it added a Goldywed bonus round which dropped by the time season two began. Fast Forward to season 4, and Sherri Shepard is the new host. Everything changed...kinda when the new logo and theme came in another season. The role of announcer eventually was dropped as well. With unaired episodes from this season yet to unearth, The Newlywed Game has always been a longtime classic. "
