Steady, are we ready? good. Game Show Live! starts now.

Opening Theme

Colbi King: From coast to coast and around the world, welcome to....

Now, America's favorite contestant, Pierre Kelly!

Me:Welcome everybody to Game Show Live! where we get lit and get involved. Let's kick it off with......

The Double Toasted opening toss up story.

It's been an interesting season of Jeopardy! Alex took it from the start until he died and by that time, a lot of guest hosts took their spot until the very last one which I'll explain later in the program. But the producers took interest in wanting Mike Richards as the new host. Um......Why? We investigate.

https://youtu.be/Gu7GYBe--Mw

Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards, who recently emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Alex Trebek as host of the venerable game show, has made his first public comments about decade-old lawsuits that have been revisited in light of his pending Jeopardy! hosting deal.

“I want to address the complicated employment issues raised in the press during my time at The Price is Right ten years ago,” Richards wrote in a memo to the Jeopardy! staff today. “These were allegations made in employment disputes against the show. I want you all to know that the way in which my comments and actions have been characterized in these complaints does not reflect the reality of who I am or how we worked together on The Price is Right. I know firsthand how special it is to be a parent. It is the most important thing in the world to me. I would not say anything to disrespect anyone’s pregnancy and have always supported my colleagues on their parenting journeys.”

Richards, who was named an executive producer of Jeopardy! in 2020, served as co-executive producer/executive producer of The Price Is Right for more than a decade. During his tenure there, he was implicated in discrimination lawsuits by former models on the show, including in a 2010 complaint by Brandi Cochran who was awarded $8.5 million in damages; after an appeal, the case was ultimately settled. A later lawsuit with another model also was settled. (While featured in both complaints, Richards was only named as a defendant in the second lawsuit. He was later removed.)

One of the most damaging aspects of the story are insensitive comments about pregnant women attributed to him in Cochran’s suit.

In his memo (read it in full below), Richards also confirmed that he has been in negotiations to become Jeopardy‘s permanent host but cautioned that “no final decisions have been made and discussions with me and other potential hosts are still ongoing.”

Richards also served as executive producer of Let’s Make a Deal and is known for his work in front of the camera, having hosted five series including Beauty and the Geek, Game Show Network’s 2016–17 version of Divided and the 2012 revival of The Pyramid.

But the damage may already have been done because today as of this writing........

i guess Levar Burton was too old enough to make him the new host because they wanted something younger. But oh well. Good luck this fall.

Circle this if you will...............

Netflix has handed out renewals for three of its most popular reality shows, so fans have a reason to celebrate. Netflix has renewed social media competition series The Circle, as well as Indian Matchmaking and The American Barbecue Showdown.

Just a few months following The Circle’s second season, Netflix has given the reality series a two-season renewal.

Since Season 3 was already in the works, The Circle is now guaranteed to last at least to Season 5, and the major vote of confidence isn't altogether shocking. Within a month of its premiere in April, Season 2 was watched by 14 million households.

The series, which has multiple versions pertaining to different countries, follows several contestants as they compete, form allies and rank each other to be the top influencer and win a cash prize. Competitors can either enter The Circle as themselves or as someone else.

The first season quickly became a must-watch and Season 2 was no different when it dropped.

According to a report from Telly Mix, Netflix will invite UK participants to play with Americans following the cancellation of Channel 4's version of the show.

Food competition series The American Barbecue Showdown has been renewed for a second season as well. With A.P. Bio’s Lyric Lewis and Floor Is Lava host Rutledge Wood hosting, the best backyard smokers and competitive barbecuers in the country face off for the title of American Barbecue Champion.

It’s been almost a year since Season 1 premiered, but since it is yet another food competition series, the odds for it to be renewed were good since people can’t get enough of that genre.

The Circle’s third season will likely premiere sometime next year, which means that Seasons 4 and 5 won’t be coming until later. However knowing that fans will be able to receive alerts from The Circle for at least a few more seasons should make it worthwhile. Fans can also likely expect Indian Matchmaking and The American Barbecue Show to premiere new seasons next year. For now, you can find all three shows' existing seasons streaming on Netflix.

Before Richards and Bialik clock in for the new season......

Fox’s Joe Buck has done play-by-play at the highest level in sportscasting for more than a quarter century. And now he is about to call games of an entirely different kind, this time talking directly to the competitors as well as the audience. He will be the host next week on “Jeopardy!,” the venerable nationally syndicated TV quiz show that airs weekdays (check local listings).

The St. Louisan is the last of the 16 people to fill in this season for Alex Trebek, who died in November after anchoring the program for nearly four decades.

Buck’s five episodes were taped in May at the Sony Pictures compound in suburban Los Angeles, all in one day following orientation and rehearsal the day before.

“After a (sporting event), you know if it went well or not,” he said. But with “no point of reference” for hosting a game show, Buck said he did not know how his performance would be received. But from his standpoint, he was ecstatic. “I kind of skipped out of the building I felt so good,” he said. “They threw every curveball they could at me.”

His optimism was reinforced recently when he heard from Mike Richards, the show’s executive producer and one of the guest hosts, “who told me ‘You were really funny.’ That’s the best compliment I can have because it means I was being myself,” said Buck, who likes to inject humor into his sports broadcasts. “I never felt out of place, like I was scrambling.

“The executives really liked it, (audience) testing went well.”

“Jeopardy!” executives plan to have a full-time successor to Trebek next season, and Buck’s name for a time was mentioned as a possibility. But “Variety” reported this week that Richards is in “advanced negotiations” to take the job although “other candidates remain in the mix (but) Richards is clearly the front-runner.”

Buck is fine with that.

“I have no belief it will be anything other than crossing it off a fictitious bucket list,” he said. He said his brief stint was an enjoyable experience and that he developed a rooting interest in one contestant but could not divulge specifics about the tapings. “I was hoping he did well,” Buck said. “He had a lot of personality; he was very likeable.”

The fill-in hosts picked a charity to receive an amount equal to the winnings of all contestants on those shows. KidSmart, a St. Louis-area organization that provides basic school materials to children whose families have financial difficulties, was Buck’s choice. He was not allowed to say how much was raised but did say it was “a bunch of money.”

This isn’t Buck’s only upcoming foray into the TV game-show business. He and several family members will be on “Celebrity Family Feud” in an episode tentatively scheduled to air Sept. 12.

I wanted to know for some reason and hopefully I know this........Do the celebrity who picked the dates on The Celebrity Dating Game actually go on a date?

This is the more scientific question since....Why Is The Sky Blue? Well, to put it this way, all celebrities have each read a agreement form prior to signing on the dotted line to appear on the program. if you watched ESPN turning into ESPN Classic last spring, It's just a new old thing. In the old days, celebrities when they were just starting out to go to destinations, but these days when ABC brought it back where it once got started, it was the other way around. Now, If you end up on a date with a celebrity, you get to be a star and live like it..........because you'll end up on the front page of TMZ as well as the TV version and other Youtube entertainment news channels you can think of. In addition, social media will ridicule you saying to themselves. "You Really took a celebrity on a Date?" and have the hometown tv News station interview you on Zoom about what just happened? Even GMA, Today, CBS This Morning and Ellen will be the subject of you being dated bya  famous person. In another way, you're just standing next to a mystery celebrity because you just sat around with the other 2 bachelor(ettes), answering questions and hearing Michael Bolton sing. All for fun and not profit. And I found this tweet more interesting.................................

So to answer that question and I hope you learn from all this....................

NO!

Have a nice day, folks.
