The Double Toasted opening toss up story.

2020 has been an amazing breakthrough for game shows in the streaming world whether they end up on Zoom, Youtube, Twitch, Instagram or Facebook. But in the nation of Canada, a small town of Petrolia, Ontario decided to have one of their own.

(not quite) Live and direct from Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, the VPP Fun & Game Show is on! Learning their homework from watching Buzzr, seeing the fashions from Match Game '73-'82 and putting their Broadway skills to the test, the VPP Fun and Game Show takes the green screen magic like as if you were watching a weather report on local newscasts and turning it into some fun and shenanigans. Monty Cristo is the host of the program with the standard Rayburn microphone and announcer Johnny John plays the role Jay Stewart perfectly fit for. Playing the music as if it was The Roots for Fallon or Batiste for Colbert or Watts for Corden, Marty Sheffield gives in the music for a one-man band to give some musical games and for the modeling paving the way for Holly Halstrom, Janice Pennington or Kathleen Bradley, Vanity Fair models all the prizes just like the Carolinas' favorite word sensation, Sqrambled Scuares. But you tell me, Pierre Jason Kelly, what about the gameplay? Well, they decided to take those game shows you've seen on GSN and Buzzr and turn them into alternative titles to avoid getting a lawsuit from Sony, Fremantle and any other company you can think of. The conestants? Well, they use VPP playhouse actors and actresses playing the games and in addition supporters of the theater get to play along too. It's a whole lot of fun but I wish there was some Augmented reality to make it look better. Maybe there could be an Augmented reality edition sometime in the future. Now these episodes run up until Christmas time, so you have a bunch of days to binge watch them all. New episodes take place every Wednesday at this Youtube address:

Next year will mark our 5th year of becoming the best game show blog we've ever created. There may be lots of changes but the blog's format remains the same. It's rare to see news reporters go from small town market to move up in the world on their way to bigger markets like LA and New York potentally getting into network or cable news. By January 2021, we're moving up in the world because we've packing up our stuff and moving to.............

Pacific Bay. Yes, we're leaving this once colder in January city for a chilly city somewhere on the beach. We've just been invited to move in to our newer and sleeker office building on the 3rd floor in what the folks call it Podcast Hill. Doesn't this look wonderful? Not only do you get to see what the skyline of Pacific Bay is like in the studio in virtual windows where you can see nicer weather compared to what miserable is in Grimsborough.....almost all the time, but you get to see news, traffic and weather updates when you look to your right and sports scores to your left. It'll give our new studio a new newscast feel. We'll have a new annoouncer, a much improved staff, newer segments and newer regulars to greet to. and one example is someone we tracked down this past summer. She'll be moving here to play a regular engagement at the Jackbox Party Club which is 3 1/2 miles from our new office. I give you the redhead rage of the Remote Control, the ginger contralto of the Cross-wits herself, the hardest working Concentration model in show business, America, this...........is....................Robin Donna!

Sweet. Of course all the benchmark segments stay here and one example is our next segment......

Your recommendation for today is..............

FOX has renewed the hit celebrity competition series THE MASKED SINGER for a fifth season, it was announced today by Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, FOX Entertainment. THE MASKED SINGER Season Five will air on FOX in 2021.

On tonight's special two-hour Season Four semi-finals episode, airing from 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT, the top two singers from each group are featured, as they battle for a spot in the season finale. "I'm so happy to announce a new season of THE MASKED SINGER," said Wade. "This show brings joy to so many families across the country, especially during these trying times, and we can't wait to get even more celebrities suited up in crazy costumes for an hour of pure fun every week."

Emmy Award nominee THE MASKED SINGER is the #1 entertainment show on television, averaging a 2.5 Most Current rating and 11.5 million multi-platform viewers this season. Last Thursday, THE MASKED SINGER delivered a 4.0/23 Live + 3 Day rating and 13.1 million viewers, marking television's #1 entertainment telecast to-date this season and driving FOX to win its first Thanksgiving night in 10 years. Earlier this year, its Season Three post-Super Bowl LIV premiere drew a massive audience of nearly 24 million viewers.

In tonight's all-new semi-finals episode, the top two celebrity contestants from each group come together for the first time as the "Super Six," competing for a coveted spot in the season finale. Craig Robinson (host of THE MASKED DANCER) joins the desk as a guest panelist. It's CROCODILE vs. SEAHORSE, MUSHROOM vs. JELLYFISH and SUN vs. POPCORN in the high-stakes two-hour episode that will leave three unmasked, and three moving on to the season finale airing Wednesday, Dec. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

It's the gameshow that proves it's hip to be square.

Based on the hit UK format, The Cube challenges players with what appear to be simple tasks all to be completed in — you guessed it — a 4m x 4m x 4m perspex cube. The games may sound simple, like bouncing a ball into a bucket within a timeframe, but once the clock starts counting down everything becomes a little bit more tense. Add to that the promise of $250,000 in prize money and you'll be setting up your own practice Cube at home.

Things got so hectic in the UK that — with £50,000 on the line — one player made the bold decision to take his pants off just in order to give himself the advantage over a game.

"Things get tense with me and my mates when we play skill games to determine who's going to get the next round of beers at the pub," The Cube Australia's host Andy Lee said. "Imagine doing it for a quarter of a million dollars. I can't wait!"

Andy's no stranger to doing deceptively simple tasks under pressure so who better to guide Aussies through a series of ridiculous but also edge-of-your-seat tense tasks.

"Andy Lee is one of the most popular and talented comedians in Australia, and we are thrilled he will host this brilliant series," 10 ViacomCBS' Head of Programming Daniel Monaghan said.

Dutch broadcaster RTL4 has commissioned a local version of ITV Studios (ITVS) format Beat The Chasers, a spin-off from gameshow The Chase.

The Netherlands follows Australia, Finland and the UK in ordering an adaptation of Beat The Chasers but is the first country to do so without already having The Chase on air.

Titled Beat The Champions, the new show will be produced by ITV Studios Netherlands and will premiere on January 3 in primetime on RTL4. That same month, Finnish broadcastet MTV3 will launch its own version and S2 will air on ITV in the UK, following a successful first run. In Australia, S1 wrapped recently on Seven.

Beat The Chasers was created by Potato, part of ITVS, and is distributed internationally by ITVS. The format gives quiz enthusiasts the chance to compete solo against a team of five super quizzers, each with a wealth of general knowledge.

The CW has renewed two of its alternative series. Penn & Teller: Fool Us, which the network says is its highest-performing unscripted series, has been renewed for an eighth cycle. New clip show World's Funniest Animals, whose November 27 telecast logged the network's best series performance in the time slot in almost two years, will return for a second cycle.

Penn & Teller: Fool Us and World's Funnies Animals were among four alternative series on the CW's pandemic-proof fall 2020 schedule that fill five out of 12 hours weekly. There is no renewal decision yet on the other two, CW veterans Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Masters of Illusion.

Penn & Teller and Whose Line also are on the CW's January schedule; the second half of Penn & Teller's seventh cycle premieres January 8.

Miranda Hart hopes her 'Games with Showbiz Names' show will provide some laughs amid the pandemic.

The 47-year-old actress believes it's important to find "a moment of fun" in these unprecedented times, suggesting that humour can help people through their troubles.

Miranda said: "It's absolutely vital. I believe you can hold the joy amongst the darkness and that's what keeps us going in our struggles.

"I try and find a moment of fun every day. And it's why I love my job – because if one viewer has had a jolly half hour with something I create, it's worthwhile and served a purpose. I think television is a wonderful friend to many."

The upcoming show will air on Christmas Eve and will see Robbie Williams, Jermaine Jenas and Shirley Ballas join Miranda as they compete in various Christmas games.

Miranda explained: "Well, what I love about the joyfully camp title is that is tells you exactly what to expect! I shall be playing very silly games with some famous faces, who you'll see in a new light from their own home, and are fully on board for the mayhem that I promise shall ensue.

"It's a format that was created for the current climate and I hope it provides some unique larks for whatever level of lockdown people are in."
