Opening Theme

Amy Irons: From around the world....across the country....and in your neighborhoods, NOW......in its 9th consecutive year, this is.................................

And now, the (Nearly) world-famous contestant...Pierre Kelly!

Me: Welcome to Game Show Live! Let's get right into it with.......

The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

What do a game show host, a rocket scientist, an MMA fighter, a RuPaul's Drag Race All-Star, two Survivors, and an American Idol hopeful & daughter of an 80s pop star have in common? They're all... in the House.

BIG BROTHER announced today on its YouTube channel's "Broveal" the 14 Houseguests set to move into the house during the 90-minute premiere Thursday, July 9 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT), on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Additional surprise Houseguests will be revealed on air.

This season's cast includes an MMA fighter, rocket scientist, game show host, daughter of an '80s pop star, and a DRAG RACE All Star, among others. This new group of Houseguests is stepping into a summer where nothing is as it seems, where every twist rewrites the rules, and where time becomes the ultimate twist.

Viewers can catch every unfiltered moment with BIG BROTHER Live Feeds when they open Friday, July 10 at 9:00 PM, ET/6:00 PM, PT on Paramount+* and Pluto TV and, for the first time, available on the show's official YouTube channel for a limited time after every BIG BROTHER and BIG BROTHER: UNLOCKED episode.

The following are the 14 Houseguests competing this summer:
- Ashley Trail (24; Alton, IL/Chicago; bartender)
- Barrett Pfeiffer (27; Benton, AR; Austin; jumbotron engineer)
- Chuk Anyanwu (27; Dallas; supply chain analyst)
- Drew Campbell (22; Temecula, CA; surgical dental assistant)
- Haley Thogmartin (29; Neosho, MO/Wildwood, MO; telemedicine executive)
- Jason De Puy (35; San Francisco/West Hollywood, CA; drag queen "Salina EsTitties")
- Kamuela "Kamu" Kirk (32; Phoenix; MMA fighter)
- LaTrice Verrett (57; Kankakee, IL/Maplewood, NJ; boutique salesperson)
- Lyric Medeiros (25; Honolulu, HI; attorney - her father is singer Glenn Medeiros)
- Mallory Aurichio (24; Washington Township, Bergen County, NJ; rocket scientist)
- Melody Morris (24; Thornton, CO/Maricopa, AZ; corporate game show host)
- Rome Seymour (28; Traverse City, MI; Delray Beach, FL; pickleball coach)
- Taylor Brown (27; Deerfield Beach, FL; elementary school counselor)
- Yash Patel (24; Monroe Township, NJ; financial analyst)

"Survivor 50" coin-flipper Rick Devens is also entering the "Big Brother" house, EW reports. And Devens is not the only former "Survivor" castaway that will be competing this summer. The outlet confirms that a second former castaway will also be vying for the grand prize, but the identity of that second person remains under wraps.

In addition, the charcuterie-loving Angela Murray from "BB26" is returning for her second shot at the $750K, reports Men's Journal. The Utah-based real estate agent finished in sixth place two summers ago, becoming one of the season's biggest and most polarizing personalities.

Can Jessica take it all or will the other 3 pounce on her for a spot in the winner's circle? Only way to find out in on Monday. And also.................

QUIZZY MONDAYS ARE BACK!

Monday nights are about to get a lot more competitive as one of the BBC's most popular traditions returns for another summer of brain-teasing television.

Quizzy Mondays are back from 13 July, with brand-new series of Mastermind, Only Connect and University Challenge once again taking over BBC Two for an evening packed with questions, puzzles and plenty of tense moments.

The night begins at 7.30pm with Mastermind, where a new group of contestants will put their specialist subjects and general knowledge to the test in the famous black chair.

At 8pm, Only Connect returns with more fiendishly difficult connections and missing vowels before University Challenge rounds off the evening at 8.30pm as another set of universities battle it out for quiz supremacy.

Sky has finally sealed a £1.6 billion ($2.1 billion) deal to acquire ITV‘s television network operations.

ITV confirmed to shareholders on Monday morning that it will sell to its pay-TV rival, meaning a crown jewel of British broadcasting becomes part of the NBCUniversal entertainment empire.

As part of the deal, Reuters confirmed previous reporting that The Great British Bake Off producer Love Productions will be sold to ITV Studios.

The deal is for ITV’s Media & Entertainment arm, not its Studios production and distribution division, and it first emerged late last year.

In May, ITV followed up by saying it remained in “active discussions” with Sky. Reuters said it is now being finalized by lawyers and an announcement could be made in the next couple of weeks.

ITV Studios, which makes the likes of Love Island and Squid Game: The Challenge, will remain separate and will add Love Productions to its stable, a huge boon given the Great British Bake Off IP. Sky, a division of Comcast, bought 70% of Love in 2014 and the remainder in 2020. Founder Richard McKerrow exited last year.

ITV CEO Carolyn McCall was quick to speak up its indie production prospects and global scale on a call with analysts and journalists today amid persistent rumors over its future. With rivals such as Banijay and All3Media merging and the tech and streaming giants getting larger, market chatter has persisted that ITV Studios would need to merge with a rival such as Fremantle or could become another takeover target to gain scale.

“We are confident that ITV Studios will continue to succeed,” McCall said. “It has been a real success story in the past eight years. It has grown about 45% and it has the best shows in every genre.”

Chris Kennedy, ITV’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer, added: “ITV Studios already has the scale to compete in the global market. It is one of the largest independent producers in the world, and more than half the revenue comes from outside the UK.”

He pointed to “a very successful strategy of bolt-on acquisitions” and claimed the company would have “sufficient cash to continue” in that vein. “We don’t see the need for a transformational acquisition of anything like this scale,” he added.

In a high-stakes twist on the franchise, 12 Naked and Afraid all-stars are dropped into open water in the dark of night, finding themselves unexpectedly abandoned and fighting to survive in the all-new series NAKED AND AFRAID: SHIPWRECKED, premiering Sunday, August 2 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

Under the impression that they are entering a standard 35-day group challenge at dawn, the survivalists instead begin their insertion adrift at sea overnight. With emergency flares shooting overhead, the survivalists must grab whatever limited resources they can before making their way ashore.

Divided into four groups of three, the survivalists are stranded on a mysterious and isolated island on the lost coast of the Philippines, often described as the "Bermuda Triangle of Southeast Asia," due to its history of past shipwrecks and unexplained disappearances. The terrain offers both opportunities and risk, with a dense, resource-rich jungle that contains the remnants of those who came before. Teams work together to build shelters and tools from the wreckage, including a 300-foot primitive water aqueduct. In the surrounding seas, survivalists must contend with tiger and hammerhead sharks, stingrays, sea snakes and box jellyfish whose venom contains one of the ocean's most lethal toxins.

Far removed from civilization and with no food, no fresh water and no clothing, the survivalists must adapt quickly, relying not only on their individual skills but also on their ability to innovate and salvage whatever they can from the environment. With each team receiving only one piece of the challenge map, they must track down the others and combine pieces to rescue themselves from the island on Day 35.

The battle-tested survivalists that will be lost at sea include:
· Adam Kavanaugh - 61 Days Survived
· Ally Frueh - 21 Days Survived
· Ana Lis Pitter - 21 Days Survived
· Dani Beauchemin - 114 Days Survived
· Darrin Reay - 115 Days Survived
· Jamie Frizzell - 55 Days Survived
· Jarrell Banks - 21 Days Survived
· Jonny Yates - 21 Days Survived
· Malu Beyonce - 17 Days Survived
· Mandy Bublitz - 35 Days Survived
· Patrick French - 110 Days Survived
· Shawn Bretschneider - 21 Days Survived

In addition to watching NAKED AND AFRAID: SHIPWRECKED on Discovery Channel, viewers can join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #NakedAndAfraid and following Naked and Afraid on Facebook, X, and Instagram.

NAKED AND AFRAID: SHIPWRECKED is produced for Discovery Channel by Lionsgate Alternative Television.

In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the beloved 1971 classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Netflix today announced that Wonka's The Golden Ticket will premiere globally on September 23, inviting audiences into a thrilling new competition based on Roald Dahl's book Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and inspired by one of the most iconic worlds in cinematic history.

Twelve lucky Golden Ticket winners, each with a partner of their choosing, will step through the gates of Wonka's Chocolate Factory and into a world of pure imagination, delicious mischief, and unexpected challenges. Once inside, contestants must navigate a series of Wonka's games, tests, and temptations designed to challenge them physically, mentally, and morally. In this high-stakes social experiment, players will journey through the factory's wondrous and unpredictable landscape, adapting, strategizing, and withstanding the unknown while proving they have the instincts, resilience, and character to thrive in chaos. In the end, only one contestant will have what it takes to earn Wonka's life-changing prize.

Adding to the nostalgia, Wonka's The Golden Ticket will feature the recreated voice of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, honoring the legendary performance that has enchanted generations of audiences. The voice of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka has been recreated with the consent of Mr. Wilder's estate. The series will also welcome back Rusty Goffe, who appeared in the original 1971 film, reprising his role as an Oompa Loompa.

"More than five decades after Gene brought Willy Wonka to life, people of all ages and backgrounds around the world continue to find joy, laughter and inspiration in his performance," said Karen B. Wilder, Gene Wilder's wife, on behalf of the Gene Wilder Estate. "Gene had a remarkable ability to bring humor, wonder and heart into people's lives, and that connection has endured for generations. We are delighted that Wonka's The Golden Ticket celebrates the warmth and imagination that he brought to the role, introducing that magic to a new generation while honoring the fans who have cherished it for decades."

In collaboration with the Roald Dahl Story Company, which Netflix acquired in 2021, and the Gene Wilder Estate, Wonka's The Golden Ticket pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Dahl's beloved book and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory while reimagining its world for a new era of audiences.

Wonka's The Golden Ticket will premiere on Netflix September 23, with a two-part finale on September 30.

Canada Day was last week but............

Canada will compete in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria, the CBC/Radio Canada and the European Broadcasting Union announced on Wednesday.

The move follows the European Broadcasting Union, the Eurovision organizer, earlier announcing Canada’s full membership after a vote held at its 96th General Assembly in Prague. CBC/Radio-Canada, the country’s public broadcaster, had been an associate member of the EBU since 1950, and as a full member gains entry into the Eurovision competition and other EBU initiatives.

Canadian artists have performed on the Eurovision stage for other member countries before, including superstar Celine Dion in 1988 winning the singing contest while competing for Switzerland in Dublin.

The Lightning Rant

90 seconds to talk about not having game shows the weekend of America's 250th starting from........................

Now.

America celebrated 250 years this weekend and it just came and went. CBS had The Great America Block Party with Zac Brown Band while the peacock network had Macy's 4th of July thing with Terry Crews of that silly AGT talent show and ABC had it's 24-hour salute to America across this and their Disney owned networks while Fox was running a World Cup Fever. The CW and Ion......................nothing else. Great. The Price is Right at Night came this close to celebrating it on July 4th. 2023 was the last time they did it. Even Hollywood squares tried it....but didn't to no avail. AGT only had a special July 4th episode on................June 30th. which went into Canada Day. Swell. Press Your Luck once did one back in the pandemic year of 2020. Remember? Family Feud's Combs version was on..............July 4th. We all knew that, right? No matter how you make a dentist drill cut into it, the networks don't want game shows on July 4th, they want specials......and nothing else. You just get to the end of June for showing. And if The Floor wants an All-American special on July 4th........it's on.
