Opening Theme

Amy Irons: From around the world....across the country....and in your neighborhoods, NOW......in its 7th consecutive year, this is.................................

And now, the (Nearly) world-famous contestant...Pierre Kelly!

Me: Welcome to Game Show Live! Let's get right into it with.......

The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

Two former executives on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune have accused Sony Pictures of engaging in unlawful race, gender, and age discrimination and retaliation against them.

Shelley Ballance Ellis, a Black woman, and her Latina colleague Monique Diaz have filed complaints with California’s Civil Rights Department and the National Labor Relations Board, alleging that Sony’s management terminated them and other workers in retaliation for collectively opposing harmful discrimination and toxic working conditions on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.

The pair have spent close to 50 years combined working on the shows. Ballance Ellis was Executive Director, Licensing and Clearance at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Diaz also worked in the department. The pair were terminated in April.

They are claiming they were terminated because they objected to racial discrimination in the workplace, the pay inequity Diaz experienced, the glass ceiling and other bias Ballance Ellis faced as an older Black woman, the airing of inappropriate footage of Southern plantations on Wheel of Fortune, racist comments and jokes made in Wheel of Fortune’s control room about Black women on the show, and the dismissal of workers’ concerns about racial bias in the Jeopardy! game questions

. The CRD and the federal NLRB will investigate the allegations over the coming months. The pair are represented by Hillary Benham Baker of Benham-Baker Legal and Peter Romer-Friedman and David Berman of Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC.

Ballance Ellis pointed to comments from Maya Angelou in 1995 where she said she was boycotting Jeopardy! for its lack of diverse contestants, and Vanna White’s pay dispute with Wheel of Fortune in the claims.

“As the highest-ranking Black production executive on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune… I had a front row seat as I watched and experienced this racial bias and insensitivity.”

Diaz highlighted an incident where she and other colleagues expressed discomfort over “plantation” shots for Wheel of Fortune. “It was clear that Sony knew there was discomfort with this. My team and I were uncomfortable with having to negotiate footage, location, and photo agreements with representatives of plantations,” she said. She also accused Wheel of Fortune producers about racist and sexist comments made about comedian Leslie Jones and other women of color about their hair.

“Sony Pictures Entertainment takes all allegations of discrimination very seriously. Earlier this year there was a broad reorganization of our game show group that resulted in the elimination of several roles to address redundancies and evolving business needs of a 40+-year-old operation. Those eliminations were business efficiency decisions and not retaliatory. Further, the past few years have been a time of significant transition and internal reorienting for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, driven by a new leadership team who are profoundly dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. We are anchored to these values as we usher in a new era for our game shows with tenacity and circumspection,” a Sony spokesperson said.

And now a very special CW version of The Yay & Yawn for October.

The Yay: Trivial Pursuit. What Levar Burton didn't get for Jeopardy! got it for The CW. It even features a Master Mind and a former Jeopardy! champion in itself as contestants.

The yawn: Scrabble. Raven-Symone hosted it close to Words with Friends but the Grundy one is the classic we all grew up on.

The stars of the CBS‘s daytime TV shows are having a great time getting into the spooky season spirit. The Price Is Right, Let’s Make a Deal, and The Bold and the Beautiful have all released photos from their upcoming Halloween episodes, and the costumes from the hosts, contestants, and stars are delightful.

The Price Is Right photos reveal that Ghosts stars Danielle Pinnock and Devan Chandler Long will “come on down” to join host Drew Carey for the special themed episode.

Here’s what to expect in each of these upcoming Halloween installments, all of which are airing on Thursday, October 31.

The Price Is Right becomes “The Price is Fright” when players “come on down!” to a ghostly haunted house, with host Drew “Keeper of the House” Carey and announcer George “Graveyard” Gray. Stars of the hit CBS comedy series GHOSTS, Danielle Pinnock (“Alberta”) and Devan Chandler Long (“Thorfinn”) join as special guests, alongside models Miss Alexis “Spiritual Advisor” Gaube, Rachel “Dolly” Reynolds, and James “O’Ghoul-oran” O’Halloran, to present bone-chilling great prizes.

On Let’s Make a Deal, dealers in the best Halloween-themed attire have a chance to win spine-chilling experiences valued at over $130k, including an immersive trip to the Parisian catacombs, a luxurious trip to New Orleans including a gothic cemetery tour, a haunted hayride, and $10,000 in cash hidden in a coffin. Host Wayne Brady and cast deliver frights and delights with their signature improvisational and musical stylings, but watch out for the scariest trick of all, the dreaded Zonk!

Buy it Now, the entrepreneur format from The Traitors UK maker Studio Lambert, has been pitched successfully in India.

Mumbai-based Rose Audio Visuals has struck a deal with formats rights holder All3Media International to make an Indian version of the show, which was initially for Channel 4 in the UK and was then adapted for Prime Video in the U.S. earlier this year. No streamer or network is attached at this point.

Sabrina Duguet, EVP APAC at All3Media International, said the new U.S. edition of the show, hosted by JB Smoove, “has reinvigorated interest in this positive and dynamic series and we are confident that that Indian platforms and audiences will embrace its energy.”

Time now for a Mistplay Game Break.

According to a Google Trend, what was the most popular Halloween costume of last year?

Think about that after we let Tammy Tuckey into the Spotify soundstage. Since it's Halloween, I thought we'd throw this in.

Thanks TT. Now the answer. It is.......................

It is of course, barbie because of the movie that the Academy Awards saw over Oppenheimer. When can there be a movie about 2XL or R.O.B. the NES robot?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did mention Retrocirq earlier in the blog and they got something new for you.

It's time to celebrate..................

All the moments from Television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes.
