The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

Today, Prime Video announced that the highly-anticipated series Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? will premiere Wednesday, October 16 on Prime Video with three episodes, followed by one new episode weekly. The 20-episode Amazon MGM Studios Original series, hosted by NFL legend Travis Kelce, will be available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

Prime Video also released first-look images of the new series, featuring a classroom full of fan-favorite celebrity participants, including comedians Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches; Thursday Night Football analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick; former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco; Real Housewife of Beverly Hills' Garcelle Beauvais; Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent; podcaster Sophia Stallone; and actress and producer Lilly Singh.

Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? offers a fun, new twist on the premise of the original popular format. Hosted by Travis Kelce, each game will welcome an adult contestant who will rely on a classroom full of celebrities from comedy, screen, and sports to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects, pulled from elementary curriculum, in an effort to win a $100,000 prize. Rather than compete against the stars, contestants enlist their help and, in some cases, can even "cheat" off of them. And on the final question, worth $100,000, the contestant selects one celebrity to discuss the answer with before locking in. The final question is always at the 6th-grade level.

Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is executive produced by Wes Kauble, and Mark Burnett, with co-executive producer Sean Kelly, Steve Hughes, Susan Janis-Mashayekhi, and Tamara Akins. The series is produced by MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, and distributed globally by Amazon MGM Studios Distributions. The original U.S. version of the Emmy-nominated Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? was co-created by Barry Poznick and John Stevens.

Ever Since Have I Got News for You debuted many moons ago, Angus Deayton was in the chair, but by 2002, guest presenters took the ousted Angus spot and since then it's been a merry go round of hosts including, Steph "Packed Lunch"  McGovern, Adil Ray of Lingo on ITV, Alexander Armstrong who you know from Pointless, Jo Brand and Jeremy Clarkson. Des Clarke, Connie McLaughlin and Stephen Jardine yet to join in. But now it's coming to our country.

The Daily Show alum Roy Wood Jr. has been tapped to host Have I Got News For You, CNN's adaptation of UK's long-running comedy panel show. Produced by Hat Trick Productions, the company behind the BBC original, for CNN Originals, the ten-episode limited series will premiere Sept. 14 and will air Saturdays at 9 PM. It will be available to stream on Max the following day.

The panel comedy series features comic observations from the satirical to the surreal through the lens of a news quiz show. And Wood, who spent eight years on Comedy Central's The Daily Show and headlined the 2023 White House Correspondents dinner, did not miss the opportunity of his Have I Got News For You hosting announcement to comment on current events, taking a jab at Donald Trump's "black jobs" remark during the June Presidential debate.

"For far too long immigrants have been coming to America and taking black jobs, kudos to CNN and the immigrants at Hat Trick Productions for bringing a Black job to the States," he said. "It is an honor to be a part of such a hallowed British institution to help make sense of the American institutions of chaos, name calling, disinformation, reality television and the 8-hour news cycle." Executive Producers for the American version of Have I Got News For You, which will have Wood joined by two team captains, are Jimmy Mulville, Richard Wilson and Jim Biederman.

Wood, a comedian, an Emmy-nominated documentary producer, and WGA nominated writer, served as a correspondent on The Daily Show from 2015 until last fall. He also guest hosted the program and was in contention to succeed Trevor Noah as host. Wood will appear alongside Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill in the upcoming Apple TV+ comedy Outcome and recently partnered with Crown Publishing to pen a memoir, The Man of Many Fathers, which will be released in 2025. Most recently seen alongside Jon Hamm in Paramount Pictures' Confess, Fletch, Wood also has done guest appearances on Only Murders in the Building, Better Call Saul, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

One of New Zealand's most popular TV sports quiz shows is returning to screens.

Sky and NZME are partnering to produce a modern-day version of Game of 2 Halves, the quiz show that ran for more than a decade before its final episode on TVNZ in early 2009.

It is being reincarnated under a new banner – The ACC does Game of 2 Halves, with NZME's sports entertainment brand the Alternative Commentary Collective pulling a new cast of celebrities together.

The new show is aimed at a family audience, with a blend of humour and pub-quiz trivia, say its producers.

The new-look version has been commissioned for an initial season of 10 half-hour weekly episodes and will be hosted by Sky TV's Laura McGoldrick.

ACC commentator and Radio Hauraki host Matt Heath will captain one of the two teams competing each week. Other names to feature include Dai Henwood, Brodie Kane, Manaia Stewart, Erena Mikaere and Angus Ta'avao.

Special athlete guests already confirmed for the series include sevens stars Michaela Blyde and Shiray Kaka, and former cricketer Katey Martin.

The show will air weekly, at 7.30pm on Thursdays from September 12, on Sky Sport, Sky Sport Now and free-to-air on Sky Open.

'Memba This?

Dancing on Ice's Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are reuniting to host a reboot of a classic game show.

ITV has confirmed that the pair will be fronting two episodes of a modern revival of You Bet!, which originally aired on ITV1 between 1988 and 1997.

This new version maintains the classic premise of You Bet! where teams of celebrities and the studio audience wager whether a contestant can complete a physical challenge. At the end of each episode, the studio audience's favorite challenger wins £10,000 ($12,700), while the celebrity team with the most correct guesses wins £10,000 ($12,700) for the charity of their choice.

"I'm so excited to be part of this iconic game show with the fabulous Stephen Mulhern," Holly said. "I'm looking forward to seeing the astonishing skills on show from the challengers and which of our celebrity panellists can come out on top."

Stephen added: "I loved You Bet! as a kid, so I'm very excited to be hosting this with the wonderful Holly Willoughby. From the big and spectacular to the unique and unexpected, I can't wait to see what extraordinary skills the challengers have up their sleeves."

You Bet! is based on a German show Wetten Dass..?, and originally aired on ITV from 1988 to 1997. The UK version's first host was Bruce Forsyth, who hosted from the show's inception and departed in 1990.

The specials will air on ITV1 and be available on ITVX in Autumn 2024.

Jason Manford is set to captivate audiences as the face of the BBC's latest quiz sensation The Answer Run. The comedian, 43, will steer contestants through a swift series of general knowledge queries in hopes of winning a substantial cash prize.

Participants will be presented with duo options the question fitting only one as the game unfolds across categories from 'Dolly Parton or Barbie' to 'Venus or Saturn', extending even to popular soaps. As tension escalates, only one pair will confront 'The Final Run', aspiring to claim the episode's accumulated riches.

Sharing his enthusiasm about the show's production. Jason reflected: "We had so much fun filming The Answer Run earlier this year and the contestants across each episode were brilliant! I can't wait for audiences to see it on screen this month and play along by themselves at home," reports the Express.

Ready to broadcast this month, The Answer Run, comprises 25 episodes, each 45 minutes long, promising gripping pre-recorded entertainment.

Intriguingly hinting at what's to come, the comedian added: "There were pairs who walked away with really decent sums of money and you just know that money was going to go towards something really special."

Jason expressed his excitement about being the new host of the quiz show, remarking: "I love presenting, as well as my acting and theatre work. Presenting is something I've always enjoyed so when The Answer Run knocked on my door I couldn't pass it up. The contestants really are the stars of the show though."

The pods are opening up on Love Is Blind UK starting on August 7 and Netflix has unveiled the 30 singles that will take on the challenge of looking for love.

Real-life couple Matt and Emma Willis co-host the dating reality series, where the singles will choose someone to marry without ever physically seeing each other.

U.S. audiences are familiar with the format that chronicles the couples over several weeks as they move in together, plan their wedding and find out if their physical connection matches their strong emotional bond developed in the Pods.

The UK edition of the format joins localized editions from Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Germany, and Japan.

Netflix is set to drop the first four episodes of Love Is Blind UK Season 1 on August 7, with new episodes being dropped each Wednesday. On Week 2 (August 14), the next four episodes will be made available.

The season finale of Love Is Blind will drop on Week 3, August 21, when Episodes 10 and 11 will be available on Netflix.

"Outlast" has officially survived its hiatus as Netflix dropped the Season 2 trailer on Wednesday morning.

After a truly diabolical first season, 16 new survivalists have once again been dropped into the Alaskan frontier to battle the elements — and each other — for their share of the $1 million prize.

What sets "Outlast" apart from similar shows like "Survivor," "Race to Survive" and "Alone" is that these lone-wolf contestants can only keep playing and ultimately win if they're part of a team … except you can change teams at will, if they'll have you. That leads to legitimate drama and backstabbing for those who figure out how to play the game within the game.

The survival competition program will be returning for season 2 on Sept. 4, with the first six episodes available on that date, and the final two installments released a week later on Sept. 11.

Every weeknight, millions of Americans make a ritual of watching other Americans guess letters in word puzzles for a chance at up to a million dollars in cash and prizes. This fun, engaging institution has earned fifty-five Emmy nominations and has stayed among the top-rated syndicated series for more than forty years. Wheel of Fortune is only the second game show in the United States and one of only nine national entertainment series to have run more than half a century continuously—an impressive feat indeed.

I'd Like to Buy a Vowel: 50 Years of Spinning Wheel of Fortune celebrates the legacy of a series ingrained in the American psyche. People easily recognize its stars and catchphrases such as "I'd like to solve the puzzle." But most are unfamiliar about how it has become a success and has managed to maintain that status in the ever-competitive world of television. Exclusive interviews with participants backstage and in executives' offices reveal there's as much drama and excitement behind the show as on air. The book also tells the stories of several winners and memorable contestants on the show, from how they competed to get on the show to what their lives have been afterward. Be prepared to be amused, surprised and impressed about what is revealed in these pages.

Wesley Hyatt is the author of The Carol Burnett Show Companion (2016), Bob Hope on TV (2018) and Betty White on TV (2021), all for BearManor Media. This is his eleventh book.

We have lost one half of an iconic comedic duo from the 60s and 70s. Mitzi Mccall, who was not only a voice over artist but was also on the Ed Sullivan show way back in 1964 which had The Beatles on the same bill as a piece of American pop culture. She and her husband Charlie Brill was on Tattletales and it's the subject of  Today's Game Show Live!..........
