The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

The acting world so far is getting out of hand.

Thousands of actors have been walking the picket lines across LA and New York today and it's clear that the SAG-AFTRA strike against the studios is going to continue to wreak havoc on scripted television. But many of these faces are also now in charge of hosting, exec producing and competing in unscripted series for the broadcast networks, leading to the question of whether shows such as The Voice, Dancing with the Stars and The Masked Singer will be impacted by the strike. It led network execs, producers and agents to scramble yesterday, making frantic phone calls to talent and figuring out the landscape as it pertains to the walkout.

The short answer, it seems, is that the majority of these shows, which make up the bulk of the fall schedules, will still be able to go ahead with production, thanks to a different contract set up.

Variety shows, reality series and game shows are covered under the SAG-AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting, which is better known as Network Code. It is separate to the film and TV collective bargaining agreement that SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP had been negotiating and is between the guild and the Big 4 broadcast networks as well as other producers. It is the same rule that applies to daytime soaps and morning shows. The move means that the networks, which saw their scripted slates decimated, initially by the writers strike, will be able to plough ahead with production on unscripted titles.

For instance, it means that NBC will be able to go ahead with new seasons of America's Got Talent, which is filming in mid-August, and The Voice, which starts filming season 25's blind auditions later this month and season 24's battles at the end of next month, despite the fact that actors such as Terry Crews, Sofia Vergara and Reba McEntire are involved.

ABC is confident that it will be able to continue with shows such as Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Jeopardy! and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which are now the lynchpins of the fall schedule.

Fox will also be able to be able to produce series such as The Masked Singer's tenth season later this month and new game show Snake Oil, which is shooting in Georgia with actor David Spade as host.

The SAG-AFTRA strike order came after talks between the performers union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers — which represents studios and streamers — ended July 12 without a new contract. The initial three-year pact was extended from its June 30 expiration and, according to Drescher, the AMPTP "wasted" those additional 12 days. "They stayed locked behind closed doors and canceled our meetings with them," the former star of The Nanny said from the podium.

Out on the picket lines, many WGA members huddled around cellphones streaming the SAG-AFTRA news conference and cheered Drescher on as passers-by honked in support. Outside the Disney lot in Burbank, those remaining close to the 2 p.m. strike wrap time pitched movies about Drescher and other labor leaders including WGA West chief negotiator Ellen Stutzman and Lindsay Dougherty, the Teamsters leader who represents more than 6,500 below-the-line industry employees in L.A. "So proud of her!" said one WGA picketer in front of Disney's Burbank headquarters, where temperatures topped 90 degrees.

More developments...
- British acting union Equity will "stand in unwavering solidarity" with its counterpart SAG-AFTRA over the looming actors strike. A statement issued jointly with SAG-AFTRA in the past few minutes on the Equity website said: "Equity UK will support SAG-AFTRA and its members by all lawful means." Because of the UK's existing anti-trade union laws, "SAG-AFTRA members currently working under an Equity UK collective bargaining agreement should continue to report to work," the statement read.
- The Teamsters Union has been supporting the Writers Guild of America (WGA) for the last 75 days across Hollywood and the scribes have returned the favor. Deadline reports that a group of WGA members, around 50 writers, joined a picket line at an Amazon warehouse in Santa Clarita, California, to support the Amazon drivers and dispatchers in their own dispute..

It's our friend Caleb Washington's 25th birthday this past week. He may be the nicest, collest and honest man to ever walk the streets of the NY/NJ Tri state area. To prove that point, this is him being a host.

What kind of man is Caleb? An everyman. Producer, Writer, host, whatever, he can do it. He's also friends to many like country star Jax......

 Tiktoker Natalie Jane.....

And even more to follow. And how do you celebrate your quarterlife in real style? By throwing a bash with your family and friends.

As if that wasn't enough, here is his old High school locker.

So happy 25th Caleb. Hope it's good tidings for you.

With the strike still ongoing.....this happened.

The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were revealed Wednesday morning, with HBO dominating the list with the most overall selections fueled by its powerhouse series Succession, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us and The White Lotus.

Succession, the HBO drama headlined by Brian Cox, earned a leading 27 nominations overall including an expected Best Drama nomination, plus multiple nods in the actor/actress categories. In the actor categories, perhaps the question should be who didn't get a nomination from the show: all the male faves got some Emmy love including Cox, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin as well as Matthew Macfadyen, Alexander Skarsgård, Alan Ruck and the beloved Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun). For the women, Sarah Snook got a nomination as did J. Smith-Cameron.

This year's Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held September 18 live on Fox, but a writers strike and a potential SAG-AFTRA strike could change that if no talent is available for the primetime showcase celebrating the best of TV over the past year.

Nominations for the big four awards of importance are...

There's a new ingredient in the mix on Top Chef.

Season 10 winner Kristen Kish will take over hosting duties from Padma Lakshmi when the Bravo culinary competition returns for season 21.

"Top Chef is where I started my journey — first as a competing chef, then a guest judge and now as host I have the honor of helping to continue to build this brand," Kish says in a statement released to EW. "I'm thrilled to sit alongside [returning judges and executive producers Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio] as we get to know new incredible chefs and see what they cook up. It feels like coming home."

"Kristen Kish represents everything that makes Top Chef incredibly special," adds Ryan Flynn, senior vice president of current production at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "She's an acclaimed chef, and her experience as a cheftestant, winner, and judge alongside her culinary curiosity makes Kristen the perfect host for the next chapter of Top Chef as we take on a new region of the country we haven't explored."

That new region is Wisconsin, which will serve as the location of season 21. "With a backdrop of picturesque landscapes, acres of farmland, miles of shoreline and vibrant urban communities, the cheftestants will explore the fresh flavors and local bounty of this rising culinary destination," reads a release from Bravo detailing the show's impending exploration of Milwaukee and Madison.

Kish will be the third Top Chef host, following season 1 host Katie Lee and Lakshmi, the latter serving as host for the past 19 seasons.

Lakshmi feels the chef has lots to bring to the her new role. "I think she'll bring herself to the show, which is different. We've been on TV for a long time, and so it's like an old marriage. It's good for there to be a little bit something new and exciting," she said. "Kristen has what Tom [Colicchio] or Gail [Simmons] or I don't have: She has the benefit of actually being a contestant, and not only competing well, but winning. And I think that perspective will help her as a host and she'll grow into that role."

Good news for fans of game shows! Pluto TV now has a 24/7 dedicated Hollywood Squares channel for fans of the show.

This channel joins a ton of other game show channels, including the Family Feud Classic, Deal or No Deal, Buzzr, Are You Smarter Than a Fith Grader? Jeopardy! Hosted by Alex Trebek, Wheel of Fortune, and more.

Pluto TV also recently re-added all eight seasons of the Andy Griffith Show. The show has been available as a live channel, but earlier this month, the on-demand version was removed. Now Pluto TV has brought back all eight seasons of the Andy Griffith Show available on-demand.

This comes as Pluto TV is adding a ton of new movies and television shows to Pluto TV.

Hollywood Squares, like PlutoTV, is a property of Paramount Global

Ahead of its Season 1 finale, Discovery Channel has ordered a second season of its hit reality series Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing. The renewal comes amid strong ratings for the Naked and Afraid spinoff that pushes the limits of primitive survival, as contestants hunt for food, water, fire and shelter, all without clothes, to win a cash prize.

Since its May 7 premiere, the series has reached 15.7 million total viewers and is averaging a 0.98 Live +3 rating among Adults 25-54. The ten-episode series is Discovery Channel's highest-rated series of 2023 to date and the #2 freshman cable series so far this year among Adults 25-54 and Men 25-54. The program also is on track to be the network's highest-rated freshman series in five years.

And it's time for a Mistplay Game Break. Since Caleb is from that area, here's a New Jersey sports question.

The last time the new Jersey devils won the Stanley Cup was way back in 2003. But.....who was the MVP of the Stanley Cup finals?

Think on it after we go to the Spotify Soundstage and here's a name with a state named after it. Her name is Arizona Lindsey and she was on stage up in NYC which is a very important clue after I play you this video and the answer to that question.

WTG Arizona. Also the name of a very cheap tea brand. Anyways, what's the answer?

The MVP was.....Jean Sebastian Gigure of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim which was the losing team of that year's finals.

NYC is a very big clue to what Arizona Lindsey performed on because I heard Wonderama gets an all new season. By all new, they'll tape July 24-28 which is next week. Kids up in NYC will love it but the Instagram page has these 3 hints not to do spoil them. They are:

1. An act's third time in a row. Is he or she the Undertaker or Bianca Belair of this program?

2. 5 days, many acts. Possible new games, perhaps?

3. Sign up in the audience for free. Sadly, it's for tweeners only. Parents, if you have any, please don't hesitate, don't put it off or wait another day. The only way to get them signed up is through this link right here:

Who knows? You maybe the next victim of this very popular game. Roll it Sinema!

It's our World. We live in it. Our destination takes us to Vietnam for this version of a soon to be on CBS fall program.

Based on an Israeli format, Raid The Cafe takes the old Nickelodeon game Show Think Fast and adds in the Mouse trap contraption to make it an exciting game.

Contestants in a pair face nine different rounds. One partner answers trivia questions on various topics, each question is worth a certain time in a cage with various prizes. The purpose of the challenger is to answer all nine questions and successfully complete the game, while providing maximum time to the partner each round to get as many prizes as possible.

Think 9 is challenging? Wait until you see this.

In the final round (tenth round), both contestants may discuss with each other to answer one final question, the Cage Question. If they managed to answer this question correctly, they automatically win all prizes in the cage.

Giving an incorrect answer at any point ends the game, and the pair loses all prizes accumulated up to that point.

So the last question is a hail Mary for everything and we mean everything. That is Raid The Cage. A game where you can either be rewarded or get squat for that.
