CBS' summer schedule can be summed up in two words: "Big Brother." The network will celebrate the 25th season of the beloved reality series with a 90-minute special on Wednesday, Aug. 2.

Following the premiere, CBS will air episodes on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. This season will also feature live evictions from the house. "Expect the unexpected this summer with a season full of twists and turns and throwbacks to the last 24 seasons," CBS teased in a press release. Julie Chen will return as the series' host, and Paramount+ subscribers will continue to be able to catch new episodes live.

"Big Brother" has long been a major hit for CBS. That remained the case last summer. According to the network, viewers watched over 12.3 billion minutes of the reality series across the network, Paramount+, CBS.com and the CBS app. That marked an increase in streaming viewership of 17% from 2021 to 2022.

Though houses full of strangers remains the biggest highlight of CBS' summer, its schedule will start in earnest days earlier on Friday, July 28. That marks the return of "Secret Celebrity Renovation." Hosted by Nischelle Turner, each episode follows a different celebrity who surprises someone in their hometown with a renovation. This season will include NFL player Damar Hamlin, "The Amazing Race's" Phil Keoghan, actor and comedian JB Smoove and "Fire Country's" Max Thieriot as its celebrities. Once again, Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano ("Survivor") will serve as the series' home improvement contractor, and interior designer Sabrina Soto ("Design Star," "Trading Spaces) will return to the design team.

That will then be followed by the premiere of CBS' new game show, "Superfan," on Aug. 9. Hosted by Nate Burleson and Keltie Knight, the musical game show will feature contestants competing against one another to prove they're their favorite artist's biggest fan. This season's celebrities will include Kelsea Ballerini, Gloria Estefan, Little Big Town, LL COOL J, Pitbull and Shania Twain.

Finally, CBS will round out the summer with Season 2 of "The Challenge: USA" starting on Aug. 10. For the series' first three weeks, CBS will air two episodes a week on Thursdays and Sundays. Beginning Aug. 31, the competition series will switch to a Thursday-only schedule, which will continue through its finale. "The Challenge: USA" pits some of the biggest names in reality against one another, drawing from contestants of "Survivor," "Big Brother" and "The Amazing Race." During its summer debut on CBS, "The Challenge: USA" grew 27% in its time period and was the network's No. 2 series of the season right behind "Big Brother."

As SAG-AFTRA prepares to begin contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on June 7, it has laid the groundwork for some hard bargaining with the companies, telling members that "the AMPTP will often make proposals designed to cut costs at member expense in order to pad corporate profits and fund lavish executive compensation."

The Writers Guild of America is now in the 21st day of its strike, and the Directors Guild of America began its contract talks with the AMPTP on May 10.

SAG-AFTRA's national board voted unanimously today to recommend that the union's members authorize a strike in advance of its upcoming negotiations for a new film and TV contract.

"In anticipation of the union's forthcoming TV/Theatrical Contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which begin June 7, the SAG-AFTRA National Board agreed unanimously to recommend that its members vote to authorize a strike," the guild said in a statement posted on its website.

"An affirmative vote does not mean a strike would necessarily happen, but it would allow the National Board to call one if deemed necessary during the negotiations process," the union added. "The action comes following a unanimous agreement by the TV/Theatrical negotiating committee that the strike authorization would give the union maximum bargaining leverage as it enters this round of negotiations with the AMPTP. SAG-AFTRA represents more than 160,000 entertainment and media professionals."

"A successful strike authorization vote doesn't initiate a strike. Instead, the strike authorization permits the National Board to declare a strike if the studios and streaming companies fail to negotiate fairly with SAG-AFTRA for the benefit of its members."

Postcards will be sent to eligible members on May 18 with instructions on how to vote, and voting will close at 5 p.m. PT on June 5.

A strike, if it comes to that, could come until midnight on June 30, when the current contract expires.

The news comes on Day 16 of the Writers Guild strike against the AMPTP. The Directors Guild, meanwhile, began contract negotiations with the AMPTP on May 10.

"This Morning" anchors Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – the U.K.'s answer to Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest – have gone their separate ways in a shock split.

Schofield announced on Saturday he would be stepping down from the show. In his statement he implied the decision had not entirely been his. "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on 'This Morning,'" he said in a post on Instagram. "But recently, 'This Morning' itself has become the story. Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can't go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love."

"So I have agreed to step down from 'This Morning' with immediate effect in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially 'This Morning's' amazing viewers – and I'll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

Colloquially known as "Holly and Phil," the duo, whose professional relationship stretches back almost two decades and encompasses multiple shows (as well as "This Morning" they also host "Dancing on Ice" together), will no longer work together on the ITV daytime juggernaut. It is unclear whether they will reunite for "Dancing on Ice," which traditionally broadcasts in the winter months.

In a statement also posted on Instagram, Willoughby wrote: "It's been over 13 great years presenting 'This Morning' with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won't feel the same without him."

ITV have not yet commented on the split or confirmed who is set to replace Schofield on "This Morning."

#TodayILearned that the new pair for This Morning would be that of Jenni Falconer and Des Clarke. Also, move the show to Scotland if that makes sense.
