Fast Food Slow Down

Byron Allen’s media company has sued McDonald’s for $100 million, accusing the fast-food Goliath of not living up to its pledge to spend a set percentage of its billion-dollar annual advertising budget with Black-owned outlets.

Allen Media Group divisions Entertainment Studios and Weather Group filed the action late last week in Superior Court of California. The lawsuit alleges fraud and “false promise” in violation of state civil code, and seeks in excess of $100 million.

McDonald’s said in a statement to TheWrap on Monday: “While McDonald’s continues to invest in diverse initiatives to create real change in communities, Byron Allen files baseless lawsuits as part of a public smear campaign against our company to try to line his pockets. This latest action is straight from his standard litigation playbook, cherry picking allegations to create a false and misleading narrative that is inconsistent with the facts and calculated to distract from the markedly low ratings and reach of his media properties. McDonald’s has a long history of investment in diverse communities and partners, and we are proud of our record. We will not be coerced by these in terrorem tactics and will defend ourselves vigorously.”

FOX announces the 12 fearless celebrities who will pack their bags and prepare for launch to the red planet as crew members on Stars on Mars, an out-of-this-world new unscripted series, premiering Monday, June 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. This summer, professional athletes, reality world megastars, triumphant entrepreneurs, renowned television and film actors, uproarious comedians and trailblazing entertainers will colonize, compete and conquer "Mars" until there is one victorious space invader, who will claim the title of "the brightest star in the galaxy."

Celebrities will ditch their jerseys, business suits and red carpet gowns for the ultimate attire - an astronaut suit. Once on "Mars," this group of stars will receive interstellar assignments from legendary actor and Star Trek icon William Shatner, who serves as Mission Control. Colonizing Mars could be our future... let's send them first!

Meet the 12 crewmates joining Stars on Mars:
· Former Professional Road-Racing Cyclist and Investor Lance Armstrong
· Comedian, Actress and Writer Natasha Leggero
· Former Super Bowl Champion, Community Advocate and Entrepreneur Marshawn Lynch
· Widely known Comedic Actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse
· Olympic Figure Skater and TV Personality Adam Rippon
· Professional Wrestler and UFC champion, Olympic Medalist and Actress Ronda Rousey
· Television Personality and Restaurateur Tom Schwartz
· Sports Analyst and Professional Football Player Richard Sherman
· Multi-Platinum-Certified POP & R&B Disruptor, Singer, Songwriter and Dancer Tinashe
· Television Personality, Actress and Author Porsha Williams Guobadia
· Entrepreneur and Artist Tallulah Willis
· SAG Award-Winning Actress and Producer Ariel Winter

This summer, adventurous celebrities prepare for take-off to the red planet, where they will live, eat, sleep, strategize and bond with each other in the same space station. During their stay, they will be faced with authentic conditions that simulate life on Mars, and they must use their brains and brawn - or maybe just their stellar social skills - to outlast the competition and claim the title of "brightest star in the galaxy." The celebrities will compete in missions and will vote to eliminate one of their crewmates each week, sending them back to Earth. Cue the intergalactic alliances and rivalries. Stars on Mars will send these famous rookie space travelers where no one has gone before and reveal who has what it takes to survive life on "Mars."

But we go into a purple planet where these qualifications come into play: Someone who can stream for more than one year of his or her own time, can be of some certain variety or within the realm outside of video games (i.e. Artwork, Music), viewership numbers on averages and the category most important: Play Jackbox games if necesssary. More Spanish stuff now.

CBS has ordered the Jaime Camil game show Loteria Loca. The series is based on the Latin board game of chance known as Loteria.

Camil will be host and executive producer. From Mexico, he's an actor and singer. His TV credits include Jane the Virgin, where he portrayed Rogelio.

"As soon as the Unscripted team and I heard the pitch from Jaime and the producers, we were immediately sold on Loteria Loca," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "This is a fresh new take on the game show format and a fun, lively addition to our lineup. Jaime Camil's incredible charisma and passion for this project make him the perfect host to engage viewers and bring this show to life."

In each episode, two players go head-to-head and take turns picking cards to get four-in-a-row, which is Lotería. Each time a card appears on their bingo-style card, they bank money. Landing on one of the "Loca Cards" gives players the opportunity to bank even more cash by competing in interactive challenges. The player who gets the most "Loterías" on their board the fastest moves on to the final round for a chance to win the cash prize.

"I grew up playing Lotería with my family and friends back in México. I could say, without a shadow of a doubt, that every single Mexican family owned (and still owns) a Lotería game," said Camil. "Even though this board game, which is similar to bingo, is still played and owned by millions of people around the globe, it's something that resonates even more with every single Latinx person, because it helps connect with our heritage and emotional memories. There are restaurants, clothes, accessories, etc, all with Lotería designs; I mean, it's just massive!"

Loteria Loca was created by Jeff Apploff, Aaron Solomon and Alejandro Trevino. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon and Apploff Entertainment. Apploff, Camil, Mike Darnell, Dan Sacks, Bridgette Theriault and Solomon are executive producers, and Apploff is showrunner. Trevino is co-executive producer.

"As a Mexican American, it means the world to be producing, alongside game show-producing legend Jeff Apploff, and hosting a show that will entertain and connect so powerfully with everyone in the U.S., but especially because it will resonate tremendously with an underserved audience," added Camil.

Channel 5 has announced a brand new quiz show, dedicated to testing contestants' problem-solving genius.

Provisionally titled Puzzling, the series will be hosted by broadcaster and historian Lucy Worsley in Channel 5's primetime schedule.

A teaser shares: "At the start of each episode, six super smart strangers are split into two teams of three. The two teams try to accrue the most points through their powers of puzzling deduction.

"Every area of our player's mind will be tested across five puzzling rounds – In Other Words (language), Pressure Points (calculation), Rule Breakers (lateral thinking), Picture This (visual intelligence) and Memory Bank (memory).

"Then, in a dramatic plot twist, the winning team turn on each other to be named the 'Best of the Best' and earn a place in the series Grand Final where the ultimate puzzler will be crowned."

Lucy Worsley said: I'm delighted to be taking on the role of puzzle-mistress in this brand-new quiz show. I've spent most of my career finding answers to historical questions so getting to ask the questions is going to be an exciting new adventure for me, I can't wait to get puzzling!

Daniel Pearl , Commissioning Editor, Unscripted, Channel 5 and Paramount+ added: "Britain is a nation of puzzlers and bringing the best puzzling minds together with some challenging, play-along-at-home brain teasers in this brand new format will be fantastic fun. With Lucy and her incredible knowledge at the helm, Puzzling is in great hands."
