It might have been LeVar Burton‘s dream job to host Jeopardy!, but not landing the coveted gig ended up working out for the best, as the Emmy-nominated actor instead found “absolute bliss” working with his daughter on Star Trek: Picard.

Burton campaigned for the Jeopardy! hosting position following the passing of the legendary Alex Trebek and was one of several rotating guest hosts in 2021 as the producers looked for a new permanent replacement. Fans even created an online petition (with thousands of signatures) to get Burton the role.

However, it wasn’t meant to be. The job initially went to the show’s executive producer Mike Richards, though he departed just three weeks later after sexist comments he made on a podcast several years earlier resurfaced. Eventually, former Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings and The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik were named permanent hosts.

Speaking to People, Burton said that he learned from his failure and is happy with how things turned out.

“Your failures are more important than your successes because you learn more from them,” he explained. “Everything happens for a reason, and it’s all purposeful and perfect. So where’s the perfection in ‘I didn’t get what I wanted’? I discovered that [it] wasn’t supposed to be mine, but the process that I went through led me to exactly where I needed to be.”

Burton is now appearing in the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard, reprising his iconic role of Geordi La Forge. Had he been hosting Jeopardy!, it’s reasonable to expect he wouldn’t have had the time in his schedule to take on the Picard role.

Part of what makes the Picard job so fulfilling for Burton is the fact he gets to work alongside his daughter, Mica, who plays one of Geordi’s daughters on the show. And he also gets to reunite with his Star Trek: The Next Generation co-stars Patrick StewartBrent SpinerMichael DornJonathan FrakesMarina Sirtis, and Gates McFadden.

Off The Vordeman

British YouTuber, rapper and boxer Olajide Olayinka Williams JJ Olatunji, known professionally as KSI, has apologized again after a racial slur.

On Sunday, KSI appeared in a mockup of U.K. game show “Countdown” and formed the word “P**i,” a pejorative term used to describe people of South Asian origin in the U.K. The subsequently deleted clip drew massive outrage on social media including from leading arts practitioners hailing from the South Asian community and KSI apologized.

On Wednesday, via a video posted on the Fred Talks Fighting YouTube channel, KSI read out another apology from a prepared statement.

“I want to address a recent incident in a video whereby my actions have affected many, many people, especially in the South Asian community. I want to take this opportunity to offer my deepest and most sincere apologies for my words and actions,” KSI said. “In a recent video, I used a racial term that’s offensive to so, so many, especially in the South Asian community. There are no excuses for what I said and I recognize that I’ve caused a lot of hurt and disappointment to so many people that look up to me.”

“My ignorance has only reinforced the negative stereotypes that have existed for way too long in this country. I want to express my heartfelt regret for what I said and I want you to know I am genuinely ashamed and deeply sorry for any pain or suffering I have caused,” KSI added. “I realized that my words have consequences and as a public figure, I have a responsibility to use my platform for good rather than perpetuating discrimination. And this week, I have failed to do this.”

“Privately, I have taken the time to engage in very early conversations with some people from South Asian communities and will continue to do so in the coming weeks and months ahead. I will continue to educate myself on the rich history and diverse cultures of South Asia and the struggles faced by its people. I’m committed to doing better, being a better ally and use my platform to uplift marginalized voices,” KSI said. “I want to say again, how truly sorry I am for my actions. I know that it’s going to take time and effort to really regain the trust and respect of those I’ve hurt. And I’m prepared to tirelessly work to make sure I make amends. And I hope my sincere apology and commitment to educate myself will be a step towards healing and unity. And I fully understand that my actions will speak louder than my words.”

But we're lifting the mood a lot with a segment that has these qualifications: Someone who can stream for more than one year of his or her own time, can be of some certain variety or within the realm outside of video games (i.e. Artwork, Music), viewership numbers on averages and the category most important: Play Jackbox games if necesssary. Please help me introduce you all to.................

This month's recipent: SaltyTheAlien. Is he from another planet? No. Did he audition for Star Trek? No. Is he too salty? Um......Maybe but SaltyTheAlien is a man who does a lot of gaming. Along with a few friends on his Discord, he's here to bring a community of people to life with such games as Marbles on Stream, Crab Champions, It takes 2 and more. With his trademark purple hair, the newly partnered gamer has done some gaming. Take a look at his highlights.

When he's not gaming, you can find him doing memes on Youtube or making up stuff on Tiktok. But when he's gaming you can find him at:

And check his Twitter when will his next stream come in. SO SaltyTheAlien with a hair so purple, you become a long lost twin of Carrot Top.......

The Talk of The Neighborhood

“There was always going to be pressure to make it special,” admits The Neighborhood executive producer Bill Martin about the landmark half hour for the sitcom that explores two racially diverse families living side-by-side in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Pasadena, California. “It had to have something meaty for each of our characters, and it needed guest stars, and it had to have emotional weight to it. And it had to be fun.”

Leave it to someone very close to the show to concoct the perfect story: Cedric the Entertainer, who plays cantankerous Calvin Butler and is also an executive producer. “Cedric pitched the idea of roping in our friends at The Talk,” says Martin, who was instantly on board with the idea.

The Neighborhood and The Talk crossover commences on Monday, April 10 at 8/7c on CBS with a desperate Calvin wanting to wow loving wife Tina (Tichina Arnold) with the perfect birthday present since, according to Cedric, “Calvin’s known for having the worst gifts in the past.” He zeroes in on neighbor Gemma’s (Beth Behrs) school auction, where she’s wangled tickets to one of Tina’s favorite shows, The Talk, courtesy of cohost Jerry O’Connell (playing himself as a school parent).

“Everybody with kids in L.A. knows those celebrity parents who are called on to host fundraisers or donate swag for an auction,” says executive producer Mike Schiff. (O’Connell’s co-hosts Sheryl UnderwoodNatalie MoralesAmanda Kloots, and Akbar Gbajabiamila also appear in the episode.)

A Wheel-y Bad Time

School principal Justin, from Kansas City, Missouri, accused the show of "doing it on purpose" as he faced one bad spin after another during Tuesday's episode.

Wearing a stylish burgundy tuxedo, he said on the show that he owns $2,000 worth of candles which he calls his "girls" but admitted that he "never burns them," as he won over viewers.

The dad-of-two managed to land on three bankrupts in a row, with host Pat Sajak joking: "Justin, Justin! Go to the principal's office."

While Justin started with a good attitude about his bad luck saying, "it's fine," he eventually got so fed up he pretended to faint.

After landing on bankrupt again, he crumbled behind the contestant's ledge only to reemerge looking exasperated.

Justin begged Sajak: "Just make it $5,000, Pat, we've got this. This is dark sided."

Then his last hopes were pinned on the Final Spin round, which looked hopeful until the wheel slowly clicked over to "Lose A Turn."

"You're doing this on purpose at this point," Justin joked.

Wheel of Fortune shared a montage of Justin's disastrous game to its official Twitter account.

"Don't worry, we spoke to the wheel after the show and asked it to apologize to Justin for its behavior today," read the tweet's caption.

Here's a Game Show Live! book club recommendation I would try.

Lina Chern's 1st book entitled "Play The Fool" is about a woman who moves back to the windy city to start her own soothsaying practice, but something murderous happened. I recommend it for its humor and use of having such inspiration from such detective shows like CSI, Taggart and Barnaby Jones. Go get this book on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble and elsewhere.

Let's let Cimorelli sing an Encanto medley form the DIsney film of the same name.

#TodayILearned that I would dream up of a Fox First Run game show crossover. All the hosts plus the celebrities who would appear on the show ala some 90's all Star Challenge thing.

Please be kind, be great and stay smart the next time you hear this sound.........
