This week, we pay our final respects to these ABC SFG shows.

The Alec Baldwin-hosted "Match Game" isn't expected to return to ABC, as the Alphabet web begins to firm up its plans for its annual game show-heavy summer lineup. Also unlikely to return are "Card Sharks," "Celebrity Dating Game" and "The Hustler," while "Celebrity Family Feud," "Press Your Luck" and "The $100,000 Pyramid" are expected to be back.

The fate of "Match Game" had been the source of speculation in the wake of Baldwin's accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the independent production "Rust" last fall. But ABC's decision to cancel "Match Game" is not related to that incident; "Match Game" hasn't been in production since 2020, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic — and only aired two new episodes in 2021, which had been left over from the previous year.

Produced by Fremantle, "Match Game" centered on four contestants competing for $25,000 as they try to match the answers of six celebrities in a game of fill-in-the-blank. The format, which first premiered in 1962, hosted by Gene Rayburn, has been revived several times in the decades since then. Executive produced by showrunner Scott St. John and others, the ABC run produced approximately 69 episodes.

As for "Card Sharks," hosted by Joel McHale, the revival ran for two seasons on ABC, most recently in July 2021. Also from Fremantle and showrunner St. John, "Card Sharks" features players trying to win a cash prize by wagering on the cards that are about to be flipped over. The format first debuted in 1978; the ABC edition aired 21 episodes starting in June 2019.

"Celebrity Dating Game," hosted by Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton, aired for just one season in 2021. The show, which premiered last June, brought celebrities to the "Dating Game" format as they quiz potential suitors and the civilians try to guess the stars behind the wall. Bolton would also perform parodies and renditions of popular songs as clues for the contestants. Sony Pictures TV is behind the show.

Hosted by Craig Ferguson, "The Hustler" called itself "the most diabolical game on television." Contestants would collaborate to answer questions and put money in a pot — but it turns out one of them is a mole who knows the answers and is trying to hide their identity and win the prize. Based on a British format, "The Hustler" came from All3Media's Studio Lambert and ran for two seasons on ABC — first debuting on Jan. 7, 2021. A total of 19 episodes aired.

As for "Celebrity Family Feud," hosted by Steve Harvey, the show is expected to be back for Season 8; "Press Your Luck," hosted by Elizabeth Banks, will return for a fourth season; and "The $100,000 Pyramid," hosted by Michael Strahan, comes back for Season 6. "Celebrity Family Feud" and "Press Your Luck" are from Fremantle, while "Pyramid" comes from Sony Pictures TV.

The shows join previously renewed "Holey Moley," which is back with a fourth season featuring the Muppets; and a new edition of "The Chase." Both of those shows, as well as new true crime mystery gamer "Who Do You Believe?" will make up a springtime night of unscripted fare on ABC starting Tuesday, May 3.

The news also comes as ABC recently confirmed that "The Ultimate Surfer" will not be returning. Still awaiting word of their fate are "Supermarket Sweep," as well as current shows "Judge Steve Harvey" and "To Tell the Truth" and recent entries "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy National College Championship.".

At least one thing isn't changing when So You Think You Can Dance returns after nearly three years: its host.

Cat Deeley is returning as host (the role she's had since Season 2) when the Fox dance competition premieres on Wednesday, May 18 at 9/8c, following the Masked Singer Season 7 finale. (Episodes will be available after their linear telecasts on FOX's free streaming platform, Tubi, as well as Fox Now, Hulu and On Demand.) Joining her in Season 17 as judges — co-creator Nigel Lythgoe announced in March he would not be back in that capacity — are SYTYCD contestant and All-Star Stephen "tWitch" Boss, actor, dancer, and singer-songwriter Matthew Morrison, and dancer, singer and digital sensation JoJo Siwa.

In the new version of the series, highly skilled dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 will showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, and breaking. Those who are selected to move on to the SYTYCD studio will work with world-renowned choreographers and compete each week in a variety of styles, and the competition will include brand-new twists and turns.

Today, Disney+ asked audiences at Wondercon, "Do you have what it takes to save the Kingdom?" as they were welcomed to Everealm, the world at the center of the unique new Original Series, "The Quest," streaming May 11 only on Disney+.

For thousands of years, Everealm has been a land of unrivaled beauty and powerful magic. Now, the realm is threatened by a powerful evil Sorceress. As a last hope, the noble Fates summon eight strangers known as Paladins from a world beyond to work together to fulfill an ancient prophecy and vanquish the Sorceress. The Paladins must unlock the hero within through a series of challenges that push their limits to restore balance to Everealm. If they fail, all will be lost. Heroes will rise. Kingdoms will fall.

Brought to the screen by the Academy Award(R)- and Emmy(R)-winning teams behind "The Lord of the Rings," "The Amazing Race" and "Queer Eye," "The Quest" is a groundbreaking, immersive, hybrid competition series that drops eight real-life teenagers (Paladins) into the fantastic, fictional world of Everealm, where they must save a kingdom by fulfilling an ancient prophecy. Throughout the eight-episode series, these heroes are immersed in a fantasy world come to life, complete with a castle, royals, ethereal fates, all forms of mystical creatures and a sorceress intent on destruction and power.

"The Quest" combines the best elements of scripted and unscripted content to create an immersive competition series where fantasy and reality collide as the teens compete in challenges in a fully-realized world of adventure. Each Paladin's mind, body, and soul will be put to the test with new surprises around every corner of the unknown land, changing not only the fate of Everealm, but also their own.

"We're doing something magical that has never been done at this level. We're taking real people and putting them in a fully realized fantasy story, conceived and built by incredible artisans in every department," say Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky, executive producers, Court Five. "It's an immersive, real-life hero's journey for these eight normal teenagers, who transform before your very eyes. It's an exciting new form of storytelling."

"What makes 'The Quest' so unique is that it's a true hybrid of scripted and reality," say Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, executive producers, New Media Collective. "It's a groundbreaking new genre where we place real teenagers in a reality competition and bring them into a fully realized fantasy world that is built on a scripted mythology of intrigue and adventure played out alongside actors for a completely immersive experience."

"We were very focused on the aesthetic of the show, from production design through costume design, making sure that everything felt authentic. We wanted both our Paladins and our audience to feel immersed in the epic world we created," say Michael Williams and Rob Eric, executive producers, from Scout Productions.

"The Quest" is produced by Court Five, New Media Collective and Scout Production Inc. From Court Five, Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky ("Lord of the Rings") are executive producers. From New Media Collective, Bertram van Munster, Elise Doganieri and Mark Dziak ("The Amazing Race") are executive producers. From Scout Production Inc., Rob Eric, Michael Williams and David Collins ("Queer Eye") are executive producers.

Sony Pictures Television is teaming up with corporate sibling the Game Show Network for the companies' first joint upfront presentation to advertisers. Live viewing and game shows' capacity for brand integration will be two key areas of focus, an announcement said.

Game Show Network, a highly penetrated linear channel with an active digital presence, says it boosted production last year by 32% over 2020 levels, reaching 350 hours of original programming. In an on-demand world, much of what it puts on the air is seen live, which the network sees as an advantage.

Its most-viewed title is People Puzzler, a Leah Remini-hosted series based on People magazine's crossword puzzle. Other staples include America Says, Master Minds and Chain Reaction.

Another show currently in development is Switch, a trivia game based on a Belgian series from DIGA Studios, the companies said. The show, which is based on a format developed by Panenka and licensed by Lineup Industries B.V., is also being produced and developed in numerous global territories. Sony also produces top-rated syndicated game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

"Our clients are constantly seeking consistency and they can expect it from us," said Stuart Zimmerman, EVP of ad sales for SPT and GSN. "We offer a safe harbor for our viewers of these tremendously popular game shows and sitcoms, which translates into a reliable and trusted environment for our advertisers' message. In short, our viewers are receptive and engaged.".

Let's let Diane Cobb go first.

Why are there so many reruns for "THE Chase"? Need some new shows please and updated. Love the Chase. Thanks

Well, there may be a new one on the way, so keep your eyes peeled on that. Next up, we go to Marc Taylor.

I just thought of A suggestion, This September why don't you guys have A Joker's Wild weekend marathon to celebrate it's 50 anniversary of the show is that possible?

I'm guessing it may, but then again, it's viewership. These people don't know an ancient show that was first on CBS but much later in syndication and most recently on the Turner networks. Up next we go to Don Connors.

Kudos for picking up reruns of 25 Words Or Less. I'm pretty sure this is the first aquisition since Hollywood Game Night over 5 years ago

That's what we were thinking. GSN finally decided to get something Buzzr couldn't get. That'll help the network a bit. Going up is Chip Angle.

Please tell me why you have to run your logo constantly and cover up part of the screen on People Puzzler?...we know what network we are watching and your logos aren't necessary, they are annoying and if you really want them.. run them up to an upper corner out of the way.. thank you

It's GSN's job and not our fault. Why can't you put it up like the last logo? We go ahead to Jackson Murphy.

Brooke Burns and Mark "The Beast" Labbett are reuniting later this year on a new season of #MasterMinds, according to Game Show Network. They were so good together on #TheChase. This news rocks!

Yes indeed. What was lost will be found again this year in a new way. Let's just end it with Zanni Dyer.

Loved in People Puzzler season 2 episode 9 that Leah came out in her slippers to point out something to the contestant!!! I wonder how many others noticed!!!!LOL!

Wait, what?

Getting to Level 6 on Whew! is a hard road. 3 positions to pick and only one way to the top. The one block is most important to the blockers that can earn them money and give the chargers a way to stop the process of going to the top before the clock expires. Even one longshot can give you a safe haven or a nightmare. One team however attempted to get to the 6th level and plenty of time to fiddle around even with one block standing in their way. Can they do it? This is the Game Show Live!........

Closing Theme
