As you can tell, it's Elvis week. And as you can tell, I'm at the studio with no screaming fans around, just a mafia of newshounds in the newsroom giving you news and everything else. There's nothing else celebrating the week from Graceland and beyond. And to start us off is a lady below basement level who's already a fan of it.

Located in the basement of our building on Podcast Hill comes a lady who analyzes history for the mind. She is................Ashley Drew! Come to her small little office in a dimly lit floor as she explores another little mystery from history...........

Thanks Ash, But I want to get this show moving along, so we begin with.........................

The Hype....................is Real!

There’s some big news for game show nerds, and no, it has nothing to do with the next host of Jeopardy! A wacky yet woefully short-lived Carter-era quizzer called Whew! is headed back to TV next month, ending a more than 40-year absence from the airwaves. Vulture has learned that retro network Buzzr has struck a deal to air original episodes of the Tom Kennedy-hosted series, which is fondly—or at least vaguely— remembered by a sliver of Gen Xers drawn in by an animated opening credits sequence designed by Hanna-Barbera as well as a bizarro bonus round which featured a collection of cardboard cutout “villains” with names such as Count Nibbleneck and Kid Rotten. Yes, TV was weirder back then.

Despite some popularity among kids watching over summer vacation or while home sick from school, Whew! was likely doomed in part by a nearly unpronounceable title and a perhaps overly complicated format (more on that ahead). Producers tried to turn things around a few months into the run by adding celebrity players to the mix, but CBS canceled the show in May 1980, a little more than a year after it premiered. While nearly 250 episodes were taped, that wasn’t enough back then to earn Whew! reruns a syndication afterlife on local TV stations or cable, and so the series basically disappeared from public view for decades. A few episodes and clips have popped up on YouTube over the past ten years or so, but for the most part, Whew! has existed mostly in the memory of those who saw it when the episodes were first broadcast.

Thankfully for fans, some of the folks who still remember Whew! include Buzzr general manager Mark Deetjen, who has made unearthing “lost” game shows part of the mandate at the Fremantle-owned network. Over the years, staffers at Buzzr have also suggested Whew! to Deetjen as have some of the network’s viewers. “Every once in a while, we’d see fans on social media say, ‘Hey, have you guys ever thought about Whew!?’,” Deetjen says. (Full disclosure: Your correspondent is one such viewer.) But according to Deetjen, it was a “chance meeting” with gameshow producer and judge John Ricci Jr. (The $100,000 Pyramid) which helped turn those internal discussions into a concerted effort to get Whew! on Buzzr. Turns out Ricci Jr. and gameshow hosting legend Wink Martindale (Tic Tac Dough) had signed on to represent series creator Jay Wolpert and producer Burt Sugarman (The Midnight Special), who still control rights to the original episodes and were trying to get them back in front of viewers. “This is a show that had been sitting on the shelf, and it fit what we needed,” Deetjen says. “It was an opportunity for us to bring back a show that’s kind of a cult classic that really fits with kind of the Buzzr mantra of, “Hey, we’re not going to just give you everything that you think you’re going to get.’…We were able to strike a very good agreement."

Because there aren’t thousands of episodes of Whew!, Buzzr won’t be scheduling multiple half-hours throughout its schedule the way it does with many of its most popular shows. After a mini-marathon of six episodes on Sunday, Sept. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m., the network will air one “new” (i.e. previously unaired) episode of the series every weekday at 4:30 p.m. ET, with two half-hours also airing Sunday nights from 7 to 8 p.m. ET. Initial episodes will be from the original “civilian” version of Whew!, but there are plans to eventually begin airing the celebrity remix, which featured appearances by Marcia Wallace, Robert Vaughn, Gary Collins and other stars of the era. And if you’re wondering how to watch Buzzr, the live feed of the network is now on multiple free streaming platforms, including Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, IMDb TV, STIRR, Distro TV, Samsung TV+, Vizio WatchFree+. It can also be found via over-the-air broadcast TV in many cities, as well as on the Dish satellite service.

And just like being obsessed with NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys back in the 90's......remember? She's got Elvis all over her room. Do i need to explain more? She even has a Tiktok just like this...........

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) today announced that Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik have been named as the new hosts of Jeopardy!. Richards will kick off Season 38 as the full-time host of Jeopardy!'s long-running daily syndicated program. Bialik joins as the host of Jeopardy!'s primetime and spinoff series, including the upcoming all-new Jeopardy! National College Championship set to air on ABC next year, as the studio looks to extend the Jeopardy! franchise to new platforms.

Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time winner Ken Jennings will return as consulting producer for the show. Richards will continue to serve as executive producer of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.

"We are thrilled to begin the next chapter of America's Favorite Quiz Show with Mike hosting our daily show and Mayim hosting new versions of Jeopardy!," said Ravi Ahuja, Chairman of Global Television Studios and Corporate Development for Sony Pictures. "We took this decision incredibly seriously. A tremendous amount of work and deliberation has gone into it, perhaps more than has ever gone into the selection of hosts for a show - deservedly so because it's Jeopardy! and we are following the incomparable Alex Trebek. A senior group of Sony Pictures Television executives pored over footage from every episode, reviewed research from multiple panels and focus groups, and got valuable input from our key partners and Jeopardy! viewers." Ahuja continued, "We knew early on that we wanted to divide the hosting responsibilities and it became very clear that Mike and Mayim were the undeniable choices. They were both at the top of our research and analysis. Mike is a unique talent, at ease behind the podium and a double threat as producer and host. Mayim has a wonderful energy, an innate sense of the game, and an authentic curiosity that naturally represents the Jeopardy! brand. We are excited to get to work with them both and are confident that they will carry on the legacy of this iconic show."

"I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to host the syndicated version of Jeopardy!," said Richards. "Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being chosen to step into a role of this magnitude. I am incredibly humbled to step behind the lectern and will work tirelessly to make sure our brilliant contestants shine in each and every episode. Alex believed the game itself and the contestants are the most important aspects of the show. I was fortunate to witness his professionalism, intensity and kindness up close and that will serve as the ultimate blueprint as we continue to produce the show we love. I am thrilled that Mayim is joining the Jeopardy! team. Her academic track record and enthusiasm for the game made her a terrific guest host. It will be a privilege to produce the primetime series with her as host."

"I couldn't be more thrilled to join the Jeopardy! family," Bialik said. "What started out with my 15-year-old repeating a rumor from Instagram that I should guest host the show has turned into one of the most exciting and surreal opportunities of my life! I'm so grateful and excited to continue to work with Mike Richards, and I'm just over the moon to join forces with him and Sony. After all the conversations we've had about this partnership, I am just so ready to get started!"

Jeopardy! National College Championship is an all-new tournament which will air in primetime on ABC next year. The competition will feature 15 colleges from across the country going head-to-head for two weeks of intense competition.

Production is slated to begin in mid-August for the season 38 premiere September 13
.

And behind Door #2..................

The Profit host and Camping World boss Marcus Lemonis and Glass Entertainment founder Nancy Glass have acquired the underlying IP to classic format Let’s Make a Deal. The pair have teamed to acquire all assets from Hatos-Hall Productions, which includes the daytime game show as well as other game shows such as 1970s ABC hit Split Second. It is a major move involving one of the best-known game shows.

The deal will not affect the show’s airing on CBS, where it has run since 2009, but will mean that producer Fremantle now licenses it from Lemonis and Glass.

Lemonis and Glass, who have worked together on the One Hundred Percent with Marcus Lemonis podcast and HGTV’s upcoming The Renovator, will exploit the format in a variety of ways including through partnerships as well as international format distribution for live and touring shows.

Former Sony Pictures Television drama chief and ex-Endemol Shine Studios President Sharon Hall, who has worked on shows including AMC’s Breaking Bad and Amazon’s Utopia and The Expanse, has been brought in as a consultant.

Sharon Hall is the daughter of Monty Hall, who along with his partner Stefan Hatos, created the show and launched it in 1963 on NBC. Hall also hosted.

The deal also includes the rights to other game formats that will be rebooted and relaunched including trivia game show Split Second.

Let’s Make a Deal, which CBS ordered a trio of primetime specials for the first time, is hosted by Wayne Brady with announcer Jonathan Mangum. John Quinn is exec producer.

The deal was negotiated by Qualia Legacy, Venable, CIBC and Eisner Law as well as Morris, Yorn and Isaacman Kaufman Painter.

“Let’s Make a Deal is so much more than a game show,” Lemonis said. “It is part of American history and our entertainment culture. I love that it gives people the opportunity to be creative, think strategically and make deals to win some really great prizes. I’m also very excited to be working alongside two powerful and successful women in entertainment. How could this not be a great deal for me?”

Added Glass: “We are very excited about the opportunity to expand this iconic brand and build on its popularity. We are also thrilled to be working with Sharon Hall, an outstanding television executive and a person who has known Let’s Make a Deal her entire life.”

“Fremantle has an exclusive license to all rights in the format in the U.S. and is entering its 13th season of production for CBS. Fremantle has had a long-standing successful relationship with Hatos Hall and looks forward to continuing this partnership with the new owners,” added a Fremantle spokeswoman.

Folow the binary code to this.....................

Channel 4 has announced a brand new quiz show hosted by Dara Ó Briain.

One & Six Zeros will see a massive jackpot of £1 million up for grabs. The six-episode series will see teams of three players playing to take home the top prize with seven questions separating them from the money.

Channel 4 explains: "They start with £1,000,000 and must answer seven general knowledge questions correctly to keep the jackpot intact. Each right answer locks in a digit of the One & Six Zeros. If the teams answer any of the questions posed by presenter Dara Ó Briain incorrectly, they will lose a zero from the prize fund and it could very quickly go from £1,000,000 to £100!"But there is a lifeline. If the team doesn’t want to risk answering a particular question, they can swap it for a different one. However, swapping questions also comes at a cost to the team… And not only that, after three questions, the team is reduced from three players to two. Then after five questions, just one player is left to tackle the final two questions alone."

Dara Ó Briain said: “I’m delighted to host this new quiz show for Channel 4 and Mighty Productions. It should be funny and tense and you, at home, will definitely think you could have done better than the contestants. Plus, I get to keep any of the money they don’t win! I think that’s the deal, I didn’t read the small print.”

Jo Street, Channel 4’s head of Daytime and Features, added: “Having one million pounds up for grabs in a quiz is thrilling and it also makes me feel a bit sick. "One & Six Zeros is a really clever format which the audience will be able to play along with, and Dara is the perfect host to steer the contestants through the nerves, the laughs and the drama of potentially winning a life changing amount of cash.”.
