We're tracking everything down on Game Show Live! and it starts.......now.
The Wrap reports that the reality competition series had to halt production indefinitely after 40 crew members fell violently ill with what a source calls “awful explosive diarrhea” with people “collapsing” on set and “being forced to run into port-o-potties.” One person on the set in Simi Valley, outside of Los Angeles, tested positive on June 3 for giardia, an intestinal infection caused by a parasite.
The show, filming in Simi Valley, California, shut down officially on June 2. A representative for Universal Television Alternative Studios, the company producing the show for NBC, told People they are “in the process of determining next steps in order to complete production.” “The health and safety of everyone on our set is our number one priority,” the representative said, “so out of an abundance of caution we have made the decision to stop production of Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide at the current location.”
Let's hope it can't happen again.

HQ Trivia is an extremely popular live interactive mobile game show in the United States. The app has become a cultural sensation in the past few years of its presence allowing the entire nation to participate in the game. In Pakistan, HQ Trivia’s local variant, Jeeto Naye Andaz Say is now gaining speed and is set to become “the disrupter” of Pakistan’s game show industry as it has raised $400,000 in its seed round lead by 47 Ventures Investment.
Holding a strategic geographical region in South Asia, Pakistan is a massive emerging market with an estimated population of 225 million as of 2021. The country’s demographic is dominated by youth making around 63% of the country’s overall population. Internet users in the country are growing at a mammoth 17% each year adding around 11 million to the market. These conditions made it inevitable for an application like Jeeto Naye Andaz Say to step in and dominate the mobile game show industry, which is still in its early growth phase.
Jeeto Naye Andaz Say follows the same format as HQ Trivia airing at the specified time of 10 PM PKT every night through its dedicated smartphone application. Every citizen from across the country can participate in the game. The entire show comprises of 10 questions that can be answered through the application’s interface. There is a timeframe of 10 seconds to answer each question correctly. The cash pool decided for the day gets evenly split between all the winners at the end of the day. Adding a cherry on top of this, people who stick till the end of the show become eligible for a lucky draw and win additional prizes. The entire experience gets wrapped up in a mere half an hour. The cash transfer takes place through local e-wallets provided by several telecommunication giants in the country.

Reimagining a classic TV format is difficult under any circumstances. But the creative team behind NBC’s new primetime take on “College Bowl” had to do it in the middle of a pandemic. Premiering June 22 at 10 p.m. ET, the new “College Bowl” is hosted by Peyton Manning, along with brother Cooper serving as sidekick.
Based on an idea by Don Reid, the original “College Bowl” first aired on radio, then moved to CBS in 1959 and later ran on NBC from 1963 to 1970. The student quiz show continued as a non-televised national competition, under the oversight of College Bowl president Richard Reid, and also spawned several international editions, as well as a championship devoted to Historically Black Colleges (HBCUs).
The NBC revival, which includes a title sponsorship from Capital One (which is why the full title is “Capital One College Bowl”), comes from Village Roadshow Television and Universal Television Alternative Studio. The 10-episode series features college students competing for a share of $1 million in scholarship money, with participating schools including University of Alabama, Auburn University, Columbia University, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Ole Miss, Morehouse College, University of Tennessee, University of Southern California, UCLA, University of Virginia and Xavier of Louisiana.
“’College Bowl’ is meant to engage these incredible kids that are brilliant around the country, and they’re out there getting their education,” said Shannon Perry, senior VP of reality and production services at Village Roadshow Television. “In this situation, they were out there getting their education in the worst possible time. They lost everything that’s great about college. It was kind of diminished at the point of filming ‘College Bowl’ for the first season, and we wanted to reinvigorate that feeling for them.”
In shooting the game show, including a bracket and winner ladder during the pandemic, producers had to safely travel and quarantine 15 teams of four college students each to the Los Angeles “College Bowl” studios. (While 12 teams competed on the show, three more teams were on standby in Los Angeles and also under quarantine, while an additional two teams were in their home cities, also under quarantine, as additional standbys.) While under quarantine, the students were stationed in hotel rooms, with under-the-door meal service, but otherwise were not allowed any human contact until they made it to the stage. Perry saluted the fortitude of the students, who “had to quarantine in their hometowns, or wherever they were, before we traveled them.”
She added: “They had to do remote COVID testing and send in tests for us, multiple times. And then they had to travel from everywhere around the country that was snowed in and miserable, to L.A., where it was sunny and gorgeous and amazing — but they had to stay locked up in their hotel rooms because we couldn’t allow them to break quarantine.
“It was absolutely inspiring and incredible and we just couldn’t be prouder of the students that came out to do it, who came out to participate in College Bowl,” she said. “I think that’s really important for anybody that watches the show to understand what these students were going through in order to participate in the show.”
