Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones will host the 72nd Emmy Awards nominations ceremony, which will be held Tuesday at 8:30 AM PT/11:30 AM ET as a livestream hosted by the Television Academy.

Jones will be joined by presenters Laverne CoxJosh Gad and Tatiana Maslany in the livestream, a virtual event this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Television has played an integral role in navigating these unprecedented times and has brought us together as we remain apart,” Frank Scherma, TV chairman and CEO, said Thursday. “We are honored to have these groundbreaking actors, producers and comedians announce this year’s Emmy nominees — whose extraordinary work has been vital to the evolution of the television landscape this season.”

Winners of this year’s Emmy Awards will be unveiled September 20 live on ABC in a ceremony hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel is executive producing the show with Reginald Hudlin.

Jones, an actor and comic, is host of ABC’s game show revival Supermarket Sweep, which cracked the network’s fall schedule and will air Sundays at 8 PM.

A casual Joyride

 Claudia Rosencrantz and Adrian Woolfe, two TV industry veterans who turned Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? into a global phenomenon, are launching a CNN-style entertainment news network as an offshoot of their Studio 1 production outfit.

The duo have gone live with LIT across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and are pitching the U.S.-focused channel as a destination for social media savvy youths who are hungry for a sideways take on news involving their favorite TV, movie and music stars, and online influencers.

LIT is currently broadcasting live for an hour every weekday, but the ambition is that, within the next three years, it will ultimately evolve into a 24-hour rolling news proposition with operations around the world. As well as broadcasting on social media, LIT is in discussions with most major platforms about distribution, and it has already partnered with Indonesian streamer Kaskus.

LIT is housed out of London, but has signed up three U.S.-based hosts — Bradford How, Sloane Glass and Ruba Wilson — to anchor its coverage, which will consist of breaking news, scoops and original reporting on the lives of the rich and famous. A team of 28 is working on the channel, which has been pulled together remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. They were originally planning to launch from LA, but coronavirus changed all that.

“It’s actually bonkers what we’re doing. What we’re doing is not just remote, but it’s live and remote and so over the past six weeks, we have been piloting on a daily basis live,” Woolfe said. “Over the course of the coming weeks and months we will ramp up the number of hours.”

LIT launches with seed funding and is currently raising a second round of finance, running to several million dollars, from a variety of backers, including financial institutions and strategic investors. The channel is aiming to make the majority of its revenue from what Woolfe described as “brand partnerships.”

Rosencrantz, who was responsible for commissioning the Idol, Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! franchises during her tenure at ITV, said LIT is born out of her obsession for celebrity. She and Woolfe believe that there is a gap in the market for a youth-centric entertainment news brand, and bringing “gravitas to trivia” will be LIT’s USP.

When Letterbox was a hit

Best friends Jamie (Mel Giedroyc) and Fran (Sue Perkins) are trying to make their way in the world with only each other to rely on. They also just happen to kill people for a living. Fueled by their antics and frivolous bickering, each job inevitably gets derailed, leading them into bizarre misadventures, full of oddball characters and unexpected dilemmas. HITMEN is produced by Tiger Aspect in association with Sky Studios and is distributed by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

ROLL THE TAPE!!!!!!

Now normally, this candidate i'm about to introduce is under the qualifications:

  must have a length of at least one year, can be of any variety or stick to a common game, viewership numbers on average and the most important category of all: the ability to play Jackbox games on any days or a moment's notice.

But this month, we highlight a rising star as we showcase.......

The Twitch head of the month award! This month's recipient.......

MtDewGal4. Originally from the city of Brotherly Love, this east coast gal decides to follow the lead of other fellow Jackbox streamers and do it 3 times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at around 8:30 central time. In fact, SMRTTrivia, Rob Switch and TipsyTune who we've mentioned on this blog are friends with her. SHe even has this fun fact......

But what about this.......

On Thursdays, she even does The Sims too. To see that, go to....

and for highlights in case they miss it.....

So, MtDewGal4, Just because your original name was either BublyGirl or Miss Perrier decided you'd stick with an unhealthy drink that's connected to the X-Games........

You are the Twitchhead of the month for July of 2020. You get an imaginary plaque to hang on the wall for all to see, bragging rights and what else Madison Brunoehler?

Madison: A case of Big K Citrus Drop fromn Kroger. It may taste like Mountain Dew.....and it sure is NOT Mountain Dew. Back to you, Mr. Kelly.

Me: Thanks Madison. Tune in next month to see who else drank Dr. K Soda from Kroger.

Actor-comedian Billy Eichner and producer Tom McNulty are developing Man in the Box, a biopic based on the life of groundbreaking TV icon Paul Lynde. Eichner plans to star. They’ve optioned a script by Edwin Cannistraci, and Eichner and McNulty are currently meeting with creatives to round out the rest of the production team.

After his breakout turn in Bye Bye Birdie, Lynde became a big TV star with his guest turns as Uncle Arthur on Bewitched, and in his role on the long-running game show Hollywood Squares. While Lynde was never publicly “out,” he never lied about his sexuality either, as most famous gay actors of that era did. His unique comic persona often and overtly nodded to his “barely-closeted” lifestyle in a way that still feels groundbreaking for his time. But he was not on the same lists for roles as straight actors. One of the reasons Eichner wants to see the film made is because of the chance to illustrate how little things have changed.

Just when every dentist decided to take their advice, Netflix decided........Nah. Here's a preview of the new season of Sugar Rush.

Big Brother 22 leaks brings some new information to light, including when sequester could start and a possible BB22 premiere date. Plus, it appears that there’s finally an official All-Stars announcement of sorts. It looks like CBS is still gearing up to put out BB22 this summer and not much is going to stop them. According to our sources, it appears they’re flying out possible cast members this week as soon as possible. So, what’s the BB scoop?

As per our sources, the sequester could begin as early as this week. CBS is reportedly beginning to fly potential Big Brother 22 cast members out beginning on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

They’ve been working hard on the sets according to spies grabbing pics of the CBS soundstage that hosts the Big Brother house. So, it makes sense that they’re almost ready for the All-Star BB22 houseguests that are going to occupy the place.

This next announcement came in a very interesting way. The CBS network began marketing some awesome BB22 All-Star merchandise for the new season of Big Brother. That seems to confirm the BB All-Star season we’ve been waiting for all summer. It’s not confirmed, but the merchandise department may have jumped the gun on releasing images of the new products (and the new logo) before and official CBS Big Brother announcement. Insiders think this is an accidental leak because Julie Chen usually is the first to officially announce the season and introduce the new logo.

The CBS marketing department released images of a coffee mug, an original slop bowl, a backyard mason jar glass, your own personalized luggage tag, and even a facemask. All of these are emblazoned with the logo for Big Brother: All-Stars. It’s the first thing CBS put out that confirms this season’s theme. And it’s very exciting for the fandom who crave a dose of their typical BB summer.

Early Voting Late Pick

On-line voting began today for the ratification of the new WGA film and TV contract, which guild leaders say contains gains “valued at more than $200 million over three years,” including a 46% increase in residuals for high-budget Subscription Video on Demand programs. Voting will conclude on July 29, and a membership meeting will be held via teleconference on July 20 to discuss the terms of the new pact, which has received the unanimous support of both the WGA West’s Board and the WGA East’s Council.

Here’s a summary of the terms provided by the guild:

Term of Agreement: The term of the agreement is May 2, 2020 through May 1, 2023.

Increased Pension Plan Contributions:
The pension plan contribution on reportable earnings will increase 1.5% (points) at the start of the agreement – from 8.5% to 10% for most earnings and from 7% to 8.5% for pilots and first seasons of one-hour dramas. The Guild has the right to divert an additional 1.25% (total) from various minimum increases in the second and third years of the contract, which could bring the total pension contribution rate to 11.25% by May of 2022.

Increases in Minimums:
Most MBA minimums will increase 1.5% in the first year of the contract, 3% in the second year of the contract, and 3% in the third year of the contract. Some minimums and rates increase less, typically 1% in the first year and 2.5% in the second and third years, or increase only once or twice during the contract. A few items do not increase in the contract. Most of these exceptions are the result of patterns established in the industry. The WGA will have the option to divert 0.5% from certain minimums into the Pension Plan in the 2nd year, and 0.75% in the 3rd year.

Script Publication Fee: The Script Publication Fee for credited screenwriters will increase by $2,500, to $12,500.

High Budget Subscription Video on Demand (HBSVOD) Terms:
Residuals for HBSVOD programs generally increase 46% due to changes in several factors in the formula for calculating the residual.
• High Budget SVOD thresholds will be lowered so that more series and programs will qualify as “high budget,” allowing more writers to earn guaranteed minimums and fixed residuals for their work. The new thresholds and effective dates are as follows:
o 20-35 minute programs: $1,000,000 and above (down from $1,300,000), effective the first Sunday following the AMPTP’s receipt of notice of ratification ($1,030,000 and above, effective May 2, 2022)
o 36-65 minute programs: $1,700,000 and above (down from $2,500,000), effective the first Sunday following the AMPTP’s receipt of notice of ratification ($1,750,000 and above, effective May 2, 2022);
• The bases for domestic streaming residuals will increase by 7.5% in both the first and second years of the contract;
• The percentages of the base for domestic streaming residuals will increase to 45%, 40%, and 35% in the first three years of use, up from 35%, 30%, and 30%, respectively;
• The rates for foreign streaming residuals will increase to 35% of the domestic residual for each exhibition year beyond the first three years, where it previously declined over time;
• Most HBSVOD series that were licensed prior to the 2020 MBA will no longer be exempt from the improved residuals for seasons that begin principal photography after July 1, 2021;
• We agreed to subscriber tiers for Apple TV+, Peacock, Amazon, and HBO Max, which determine which minimums and residuals apply to writing for those HBSVOD platforms, as well as a mechanism for reassessing the tiers during the term of the agreement if necessary; and
• We clarified how and when subscribers of HBSVOD platforms are to be counted to help determine the right amounts due for initial compensation and residuals.

And finally, tomorrow is Christmas in July. Yes.......you heard right, Christmas in July. And we decided to let Brittany Luberda in on the fun.

Looking at my Swatch, it's about that time. I hope you don't leak the new stuff just like The Washington Football team did. Is that what they are now? Can't we just bring back Red.....oh nevermind.

It kills me to say we must go. It'll be another session when you hear......
