Sometimes when you get a job you always want mean something controversial may cost you. Case in point: Kevin Hart. Let's backtrack to when he got selected for the Oscars.
The funnyman announced the plum booking on Tuesday via Instagram, saying “the day has finally come” after apparently being beseeched to host the Oscars in the past. “To be able to join the legendary list of host [sic] that have graced that stage is unbelievable.”
Jimmy Kimmel hosted this year’s Oscars telecast, which drew an all-time low audience of 24.4 million total viewers. Chris Rock, Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen DeGeneres and Seth MacFarlane hosted the immediate years prior to that.
In addition to his acting in movies such as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the Ride Along franchise, Hart has hosted both MTV’s Movie Awards and the VMAs as well as CBS’ TKO: Total Knockout. He has lorded over Saturday Night Live‘s Studio 8H three times.
Fast forward to 24 hours and this happened.....
Newly-minted Oscar host Kevin Hart‘s attempt to quell a growing backlash concerning his anti-gay social media history has itself triggered a backlash.
Following Tuesday’s announcement that the actor/comedian had been tapped to host the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 24, Hart’s homophobic twitter past has come under new scrutiny. The swelling controversy prompted Hart to release the following statement on Instagram on Thursday.
Stop looking for reasons to be negative. Stop searching for reasons to be angry. I swear I wish you guys could see/feel/understand the mental place that I am in. I am truly happy people… there is nothing that you can do to change that. NOTHING. I work hard on a daily basis to spread positivity to all… with that being said if you want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. I’m almost 40 years old and I am in love with the man I’m becoming. You LIVE and YOU LEARN & YOU GROW & MATURE. I live to love. Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive. Please. What’s understood should never have to be said. I LOVE EVERYBODY… ONCE AGAIN EVERYBODY. If you choose to not believe me then that’s on you. Have a beautiful day.
Hart’s comments drew widespread scorn on Twitter, with some calling for the Academy to drop him as Oscar host.
One tweet from Emily Nussbaum had this to say:
Oh well as long as YOU’RE in a good place, it’s all cool.— Emily Nussbaum (@emilynussbaum) December 7, 2018
I don’t generally get heated about stale old tweets, but neither this guy nor his nipple should host the Oscars, aka the Gay Super Bowl. Especially since they weren’t even jokes.
But Snoop dogg of his Own Joker's Wild had this to say.....
“Hey Kev, don’t trip. It ain’t our kind of s—, no way,” the rapper said, between puffs.
“Yeah, right. Come do the BET Awards … or Soul Train. They don’t care,” the rapper continued. “You’re a comedian, cracking jokes.”
Snoop Dogg also made it clear, presumably as a preemptive move, that he wouldn’t be available to take Hart’s place as Oscars host.
After this commercial word, Jeopardy! and fantasy sports. An odder mix. That's....when Game Show Live! returns.
(fade to break)
Madison: Some members of our viewing audience will receive...
A ham sandwich that I actually made from Honeybaked ham. In addition to getting a ham, use it to make your own recipes like the Honey Baked Ham stew and more among others. Now back to our sandwich artist, Pierre Kelly!
Me: Thank you Madi and welcome back. Later, we take a hitchhiker's guide to the classic HBO tv series......The Hitchhiker.
This......is......Fantasy Jeopardy!?????
That's right, "Jeopardy!" announced on Monday that it is launching a fantasy league sweepstakes to coincide with its upcoming All-Stars Games tournament. For those of you playing at home, that's a fantasy football-style contest in which you pick your own team of All-Stars and track their progress throughout the competition.
It's ideal for anyone who has a love of both sports and game show trivia and anyone who also is looking for something else to obsess over if they were eliminated from their fantasy football playoffs.
Here's how it works: participants pick one captain and two team members from the 18 former champions playing in the tournament to build their team during the selection period, which runs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 31. Then, during the "Jeopardy! All-Star Games," which airs from Feb. 20 to Mar. 5, 2019, fantasy team owners can watch and cheer their team on as they accrue fantasy points.
But don't go racing to draft Ken Jennings with your first overall pick just yet. You earn fantasy points for each correct response a player gives and correct "Final Jeopardy!" responses are worth 10 points. Each of these points represents an entry into the sweepstakes, so the more points the three players on a fantasy team accrue, the more chances a fantasy team owner has of winning.
"Jeopardy!" is partnering with Lindblad Expeditions for the contest, and winners of the league sweepstakes will win a vacation..
Now we check the Syndicated scoreboard.
CBS Television Distribution's Judge Judy, in its 23rd season, ruled syndication in the 2018 November sweep, which ran Oct. 25 to Nov. 21, with a 7.4 live plus same day national household average, according to Nielsen Media Research, up 1% from last year.
That marks the show's strongest November sweep number since 2015 and the tenth time in the past 11 major sweeps that Judy has led all of syndication in households. That bucked the overall trend, with most shows declining compared to last year after facing many news and sports preemptions during the ratings period.
In access, the game shows produced no winners. Debmar-Mercury's Family Feud led the category, although it fell 3% compared to last November to a 6.3. CTD's Jeopardy! also sagged 3% to a 6.2, while CTD's Wheel of Fortune faded 2% to a 6.1. Disney-ABC's Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Entertainment Studios' Funny You Should Ask both broke even compared to last November at a 1.6 and 0.5, respectively.
WWE Raw for 3 hours may be boring like any road trip by car but......
For the first time since 2015, ABC's "The Bachelor" will kick off with a three-hour live premiere when the show returns for its 23rd season. The extra-long premiere will air on ABC, streaming and on-demand Monday, Jan. 7 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m EST.
Along with the introduction of the women vying for the heart of Bachelor Colton Underwood, the episode will also pop in on "Bachelor" viewing parties around the country.
The premiere will see 30 women competing for the final rose, with 23 making it to the next week. Throughout the season, the cast will travel to locations around the world including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Portugal, and Denver, which happens to be Underwood's hometown.
ohn De Mol's Talpa has scored a second season of Dutch music talent format House of Talent.
The first season of the show, which De Mol's firm hopes can be the spiritual successor to The Voice, ends of December 28 and has been picked up for a sophomore run in 2019 via Holland's SBS6. The recommission bodes well for the international potential for the daily format, which targets young audiences by mixing music and reality television with social media.
A group of musical artists from various genres live together as they attempt to make it big in the music business. The musicians must build up a fanbase, perform throughout the country and release a new track, every six weeks. Two professional managers will guide them every step of the way and take care of bookings and promotion. If the artists don't make enough money or generate enough engagement in each six-week period, they will be nominated for elimination.
The show also has a large second screen element; the musicians must use social media to create their following and the elimination show will be broadcast exclusively online. House of Talent launched in the same slot as Utopia, the reality series that was remade by Fox in 2014.
The company has already begun talks to export the format into a number of major markets and it will likely pique the interest of networks in the U.S. and UK, who have been crying out for a breakout music format since the launch of The Voice back in 2010.
The popular radio show/podcast Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! is headed to television. NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment's Wilshire Studios has teamed with Storied Media Group to develop a TV series based on the long-running NPR program.
Hosted by Peter Sagal, NPR's weekly news-themed radio panel show Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! is a funny and fast-paced game of provocative questions and snappy answers about current events. It features celebrity guests, which have ranged from Jordan Peele, Stephen Colbert, Guy Richie, and Greta Gerwig to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
The TV adaptation will stay true to the original while delivering bigger, visual and variety-themed games that can't be captured on the radio. It will be an hour-long current events trivia game featuring three celebrity panelists who will compete in a series of comedic challenges, earning points as they correctly answer questions about the week's news. The panelist who earns the most points will earn a cash prize for the charity of his or her choice. A host for the TV version has yet to be announced.
"We are delighted to be adapting the iconic Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me!" said Dawn Olmstead, President, Wilshire Studios. "The series, radio show and podcast, working in tandem, will allow us to expand the audience across multiple platforms. We look forward to working with our partners at NPR and Storied Media Group on growing this timely franchise."
Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! has nearly 7 million weekly listeners and in 2008, it won a Peabody Award. "Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me! is one of our flagship programs, so we are especially excited to bring it to Wilshire Studios, part of the NBCUniversal family, to develop for television," said Michael Lutzky, VP of Business Development for NPR. "We are thrilled that one of the longest-running and most listened to radio and podcast franchises in history will now entertain television audiences with a fresh and fun look at the week's news."
NPR previously teamed with CBS in 2008 for a Wait Wait TV adaptation, which filmed a pilot. A one-off special aired on BBC America in 2011 with original host & announcer tandem Peter Sagal & the late Carl Kasell. Neither show went to series.
Finally, a Game Show Live! follow along on the future of CBS TV City......
CBS Corp. said it has reached definitive agreement to sell its iconic 25-acre CBS Television City property and sound stage operation to Los Angeles real estate developer Hackman Capital Partners for $750 million.
As part of the agreement, Hackman Capital will have the rights to use the Television City trademark in connection with its operations on the property.
CBS said it will continue to produce The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Price Is Right and The Young and the Restless, on the Television City campus for at least the next five years. The network also will retain office space for CBS Studios International's U.S. headquarters and other company departments currently housed on the site.
"The sale of Television City unlocks significant value, increasing CBS' financial flexibility, including the ability to redeploy capital for strategic growth initiatives such as additional content investment," said CBS' Acting CEO Joseph Ianniello in a statement. Hackman Capital Partners CEO Michael Hackman said the acquisition represents "another crown jewel to our portfolio."
CBS owns the 40-acre CBS Studios Center in Studio City, Calif, which will remain the company's primary production facility. That campus is home to the broadcast network, CBS Television Studios and CBS Television Stations KCBS and KCAL.
The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by early next year.
Time for a Gamestop game break. We play a new game entitled "They Say it's Whose Birthday?" If we can get some live music going......
Thank you. Now, we've threw a birthday party for this famous person this Wednesday. Can you guess what it is?
Clue #1: Born in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Last week, I investigated on the 1996 pilot of Card Sharks but one more pilot from the Goodson/All-American files reveals MG2. Like what is it anyway? Let's investigate.
https://youtu.be/wRl88VATFrs
Match game back in 1996 was supposed to be renamed MG2. The premise was this: Instead of having the contestant come up with the answer to the blank filled and have the stars match it later, the process was reversed. How wrong was that? There was also 5 celebrities, which would be the # needed for the 1998 version starring Michael Burger when Pearson snatched up the rights and Charlene Tilton was the dumbest bulb in the bunch. In fact, all of the stars were dumb. But, Rondell Sheridan did appear on the 1998 version. Also, the bonus game was different. The super match remained in place, but it was the 2nd part after the Panel Poll which kindly sucked. WTG, All American Television. But by 2016, it was back to the way it was. CASE CLOSED!!!!
That's it for this week, today's "lump of coal in the stocking" is a weekend trip to Bayhem. Wait....where is Bayhem?
