"Dancing with the Stars" is gearing up to celebrate its 25th season, and the new celebrity cast are sparkling up their wardrobe, breaking in their dancing shoes and readying themselves for their first dance on the ballroom floor, as the season kicks off on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. This season's lineup of celebrity dancers includes a "Shark," a married couple whose pro partners are also a married couple, a "Pretty Little Liar," a "Property Brother," an 80s pop icon, a WWE superstar and a NBA champion, among others.
Additionally, ABC is launching the first-ever official Dancing with the Stars Fantasy League on September 6 on abc.com/dfl. The game allows players to predict which couple will win the season and take home the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Players earn points for correct predictions, and each point is an entry into the grand-prize drawing for a chance to win a trip for four to Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii and other exclusive prizes. Beginning September 19, fans can also play the weekly game to earn more points and chances to win. Each week, players choose three couples they predict will earn the highest scores in that week's episode(s). Each point the couples earn on the show is another entry towards the Grand Prize and First Prize sweepstakes.

As announced this morning on ABC's "Good Morning America," the celebrities with their professional dance partners heading to the ballroom this season (in alphabetical order) are:

· Barbara Corcoran ("Shark Tank") with Keo Motsepe
· singer Debbie Gibson with Alan Bersten
· NBA player/analyst Derek Fisher with Sharna Burgess
· Drew Scott ("Property Brothers") with Emma Slater
· Frankie Muniz ("Malcolm in the Middle") with Witney Carson
· Jordan Fisher (Broadway's "Hamilton") with Lindsay Arnold
· violinist Lindsey Stirling with Mark Ballas
· singer/TV host Nick Lachey with Peta Murgatroyd
· WWE Diva Nikki Bella with Artem Chigvintsev
· Sasha Pieterse ("Pretty Little Liars") with Gleb Savchenko
· NFL Pro Bowler Terrell Owens with Cheryl Burke
· actress Vanessa Lachey with Maks Chmerkovskiy
· Paralympian Victoria Arlen with Val Chmerkovskiy

Based on the popularity of its recently launched The Bachelor and The Bachelorette Fantasy Leagues, ABC is now launching the first-ever official Dancing with the Stars Fantasy League today at ABC.com/DFL. The game allows players to predict which couple will win the season and take home the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Players earn points for a correct prediction, and each point is an entry into the grand prize drawing for a chance to win a trip for four to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai'I, and other exclusive prizes. Players can modify their Mirrorball picks until Monday, October 9, at 4:59 p.m. PDT/7:59 pm EDT.

Beginning September 19, fans can also play the weekly game to earn more points and chances to win. Each week, players choose three couples they predict will earn the highest scores in that week's episode(s). Each point the couples earn on the show is another entry towards the Grand Prize and First Prize sweepstakes. Weekly games lock Mondays at 4:59 p.m. PDT/7:59 p.m. EDT. The Dancing with the Stars Fantasy League sweepstakes is open to legal U.S. residents, 18 or older. No purchase is necessary to play. See Official Rules at ABC.com/DFL for full details.

After a quickie grab, we get to find out who the new bachelor is. That's on the way, but first.....

Are you ready for some football?

(fade to break)

Welcome back to Game Show Live!  Can you spot a person judge by an internet troll? We'll explain later on.

But first, Gentlemen, start your engines!

Emily Maynard’s ex is ready to wear his heart on his sleeve (again).
It what turned out to be the verbal equivalent of a shrug emoji, ABC on Thursday morning revealed that Bachelorette Season 8 runner-up Arie Luyendyk Jr. will be The Bachelor for Season 22, premiering at midseason. The announcement — which came on the heels of last week’s delayed reveal, and after a series of teasey tweets by series creator Mike Fleiss — was made on Good Morning America.

A 35-year-old auto racing driver, Luyendyk Jr. vied for Maynard’s hand in 2012, but she ultimately chose Jef Holm. At the time, Maynard opted to forgo her final date with Luyendyk Jr., instead telling him that her heart belonged to Holm. Three months later, Maynard and Holm called off their engagement.

Luyendyk Jr.’s casting comes nearly a week after the new Bachelor was first expected to be announced on the Sept. 1 GMA. At the time, Bachelorette Season 13 runner-up Peter Kraus was considered a shoo-in, but Fleiss took to social media earlier this week to reveal that Kraus would “probably not” get a second chance at finding small-screen love, after all.

Emily Maynard and Sean Lowe from The Bachelorette's eighth season are apparently thrilled about Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s new The Bachelor gig.

Shortly after ABC announced Arie, a professional auto racing driver turned real estate agent from Scottsdale, AZ, has been named The Bachelor star for Season 22 on Good Morning America, Emily and close pal Sean expressed their support.

"I can't think of a better person to be The Bachelor than Arie and I've been hoping this day would come since Season 8 ended!" Emily, 31, told Us Weekly. "He's a gentleman through and through and all the girls on his season are lucky to have him."

"I'll be wishing him nothing but the best because that's absolutely what he deserves!" Emily added of Arie.

Meanwhile, Sean -- who is currently married to his final The Bachelor pick, Catherine Giudici, with one child -- became friends with Arie on Season 8 of The Bachelorette and apparently believes the franchise's latest star is the perfect choice.
"It's about time! Couldn't have picked a better guy," Sean tweeted Thursday.

Breaking news update on upcoming BBC America schedule changes, but first.....

Also, Pop TV will provide fans the exclusive live television broadcast of BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK, an unfiltered late-night feed from inside the house. Additional details regarding scheduling and casting will be announced at a later date.

The celebrity edition of the series is in addition to BIG BROTHER's milestone 20th season that will be broadcast in summer 2018.

It's a Sink or Swim thing, bay-bay.

Global Agency is gearing up to launch the original prime-time quiz show Cash or Splash to the international television market.
Cash or Splash looks on as contestants compete to protect their $1 million cash prize and avoid getting dropped into freezing water during a seven-question game. The format is already airing successfully on TRT in Turkey. The four-season show has a total of 80 episodes.
Izzet Pinto, the CEO of Global Agency, remarked: “We’re thrilled to be bringing another exciting and funny competition to our market with Cash or Splash. The format has already proved itself in Turkey with its huge success both in television and also with the social media engagements. Cash or Splash is a very amusing and breathtaking format because the contestants are always at unease, not knowing when and if they will fall into the cold water. There is a lot of tension in it. We are eager to bring this show to audiences around the world.”

Okay, last week on Livewire!, we told you about the new Cash Explosion and many people raved about it. Be careful what you wish for.

Maryann Howe: “If it’s not broken don’t fix it. I liked the old show better. We need to get the old show back.”
Tina Kadvan-Gilpin: “No excitement. So disappointed will probably not watch anymore. Actually I’m going to stop buying the tickets.”
Kimberly Becka: “The new show is terrible! The format is ridiculous…. Don’t know why they messed with the old one!”
Kristy Kiser Bailey: “Do not like the new show at all. Not exciting. Bring back the old way.”
Albert Smith: “Too slow and boring. Whoever decided on switching format needs FIRED.”
Brittany Keplinger Beatty: “I’m always excited to watch this show every weekend, however tonight I was disappointed. I didn’t like the new format at all! Why change a good thing that was already working? It was more exciting and understandable… This new format is BORING!!! Please bring the old way back!”
Mark Smith: “The new format is awful. You barely had me as a viewer as it was. Not watching again.”
Tammy Fairchild: “The new show is a little odd. It will take some time getting use to it.”
Dolores Sherbourne: “Did not like the new show.”
Jim Agee: “Pitiful.”
Janice Gambrel: “I always looked forward to this show but not anymore. The new show is not exciting at all. Why change a good thing?”
Leslie Faye Atwood: “I don’t like this new show. I hope they bring back the old show. I agree with everyone else that it is dark, boring and dull. I miss the audience and excitement. I’ll try to watch one more time.”
Richie McLaughlin: “The new show sucks! I bet they won’t stay on TV for very long with the new format. Very boring. I won’t be buying anymore tickets to try and get on the show.”
Liz Dolego: “Not a fan of the new show. What happens when an elderly person has to walk up to podium? Whoever thought this new set up was a good idea should be fired.. tonight!!”
Brandon Wood: “Used to be a fan. Not anymore. Trying to be too dark and serious. This format does not work. The old format may have been nearly 30 years old, but it worked for what it was. There is no more atmosphere on this show. It’s bland. The excitement is gone. I’ve never been so bored…. Will not watch anymore.”
Wally Blazer: “I’m so sad – this new show sucks – I always looked forward to watching – it was so boring I almost fell asleep.”
Bonnie Wykoff: “What a crappy show now. Hate it. Doubt if we will watch again. Totally dull. Fire the creative soul who came up with this remake!!”
Debbie Speakman: “Very disappointed in the new show format! The old show had audience participation, this one does not. Bring back the old show.”
Wayne Miller: “This is so boring and long. No reason to change the format. The last few times they tried to change it, it didn’t work. If you continue with this format, I will stop watching. …”

Everybody do the wave!

(people in back wave)

Rylan Clark-Neal is to host a new swimming based game show called The Wave.
The series, which will air on UKTV's W channel later this year, will involve pairs of contestants.

One will stay on land with host Rylan while the other will head out into open water.

One contestant will have to swim out to pontoons in order to answer questions to win money but will find themselves weight down by rocks if they get an answer wrong.

They'll then have to return to the shore against the clock in order to win win the cash prize.

A source told The Sun: "Swimming out in open sea is tough enough as it is. But a bag full of rocks could really end in tears for those taking part.

"Show bosses will be watching nervously, hoping contestants don’t get in too much bother before the safety boat intervenes.”

Rylan said of the show: "It’s sunny, it’s sexy and it’s funny. What more could you want?

"I can’t wait to work with an amazing team, playing a really fun game and can’t wait to meet our brave contestants who are going to be taking on The Wave.”
The Wave is expected to air on W from November with 10 episodes lined up.

What's the word?

We will show you a nonsensical word and I'll give you a clue as to what it is. Ready?

CHASEMASTERSON

Oh looky here, Chase Masterson is on Game Show Live! Last time she was here, she serenaded one of our writers' birthday......oh, where was I? Yes, the clue.

Clue: Hurry-up offense.

Talk this one over after a Google Play music interlude because all September it's.....

Carly Smashes September. Direct from the Hal Hidey school of prize music, it's Carly Ann Worden doing music like you've never seen it before.

So did you figure it out? It's.....

A: Haste.

The 23rd edition Password dictionary tells us it's excessive speed or urgency of movement or action; hurry See there?

Cable TV these days is a wasteland.  Marathons of old shows, extended local news that normally starts where kids use to watch cartoons back in the day, copycat talk shows that copy "The View" or something or anything else you can think of. Thankfully, my house switched to cheap old antenna stuff where we watch classic TV. But our Lip Sync Idiotesters Kristin & Danny might be on to something. Let's check it out.

Final story of the day.  Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios....you know, the one known for such things in syndication at around 11pm late nights, has asked actress Britanni Johnson to play announcer for a CW daytime version of "Funny You Should Ask." The program will air in mid-morning to early afternoon spots.....

The Lightning Rant. 90 seconds to talk about why a non-game show made Buzzr  starting from.................

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/mtg-buzzin2.wav

Now.

I'm so glad Buzzr's Lost & Found is back and one black sheep in the Buzzr family made it this week. It's Richard Simmons: Dream Maker. In it, individuals fulfills the wishes thanks to who else? Fitness guru Richard Simmons. Kinda like the 1983 short-lived NBC show Fantasy. What hath Buzzr got? I know you got some new rarities but why can't you put a talk show on there. GSN tried it with Love Triangle in 2011 because it implanted a talk show wrinkle, so did Change of Heart, it was a dating show, but it was 3/4 talk. So how will we see a 1-season wonder from 1999? Well, we have to either get on Netflix or go outside and play. That's the way it works.
