(theme fades out)

Hey you, yes you, you are reading about GSN and this is GSN The Know. I must be Pierre Kelly. And I must have a blgo somewhere.....nevermind. I'm here and you're here, so let's get started. Where is Hilty? He must be here somewhere....ah, here he is and we've got ratings to catch like this.....

With 2 weeks to go in the season, Bible continued to pound things out. Feud took 2nd and Minute took 3rd, but it also took 6th with the rest of Feud filling out the spots. Now the old dumpster outside the Lounge....

To kick things off, Whammy! became a moldy sandwich to Feud and Password Plus, with Baggage taking a couple of spots and Feud being another moldy sandwich on the bottom to Baggage and P+. Where is Hilty? He's exiting this way.....

Now we move on to the second quarter and Sherriwed will take the place of Bible as aforementioned in the GSN forums. It'll be on Thursday thus week, but Steve Harvey's feud will replace the sagging worm known as the Pyramid, and as if it wasn't enough, Donnymid, the one before the 2012 version may be effective at noon either weekdays or weekends. Now on to more news-ly stuff.....

We would like to say congrats to the host of Catch 21 for his 2nd marriage. Hope yours will be good as the last one.

This past weekend, we saw the host of Bible do his comedy act in Tulsa, ok.

http://mobile.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2012/10/to_tell_the_truth_the_story_of_the_last_new_york_city_game_show.html

A game show contestant tells us about the last of the great NYC game shows, however, it continued to strive all throughout cable and syndication until Millionaire got it back where it belonged in '99. The first game show to tape in NYC for the network: Chain Reaction in 2006. Finally....

A man tries out for the new version of Match Game...and fails. Ouch. With that, we skip to halftime. And because it's October still, we got another Svengoolie parody for you.....

And we've got one last parody for you next week just in time for Halloween. Right now, we continue on the topic of schedule changes. DOND returns to the 4pm slot andsome people are saying about them:

"Actually very glad to see DOND returning. The overkill made it hard for me to watch for awhile.Think putting it at 1 PM wasn't a great move because that was usually the lowest rated spot for the show when the were playing it 5 times a day."

Well, make that one, but with The Pyramid losing it's slot, one person said....

"I'm surprised nobody mentioned that The Pyramid loses its daily 6 PM slot with Harvey going in its place, though it keeps its Friday prime time slots along with 3 PM weekdays and 12-1 PM Sundays. This may be fueling the speculation on BuzzerBlog that the show has been cancelled. But then again, The Newlywed Game got a new season even though it's been on and off the daily schedule, and got worse ratings than The Pyramid in its last season. So who knows? It may boil down to the show's production costs, with Newlywed Game quite possibly being cheaper due to the lack of celebrity guests."
I'm thinking Sherriwed could get cancelled, but who knows? It might break Woolery's Lingo recoard not counting that god awful Engvall version. Next please....

"There is precious little new or different about GSN's Pyramid. It's the same old, same old. Of course, that's just the ticket for game show Internet boards. For the general TV audience, not so much."

Hmm,I wonder why tehy had to stick to the Clark reruns instead of this one? Maybe I don't know. Perhaps it was Harvey's Feud that done did it and here's why....

"My main beef is that Harvey Feud (particularly on GSN) is advertised as being family viewing. Those "fun, fun, fun for the whole family" promos run seemingly during every commercial break. If you want to have raunchy questions with off-color answers, fine. But don't advertise (or let licensees advertise) the show as family-friendly."

However, another poster believes in anotehr famous person with this one-liner...

"Steve Beverly would never approve of GSN advertising Harvey Feud as "Family-Friendly"'.

And why is that? Take a look at Engvall's Lingo and watch....

As we move on to what you'll see on Thursday, here's a comment....

"I think GSN should've kept Bible on Thursdays at 8pm in reruns and see how it does and put Newlywed on Friday from 8-10pm, but either way, not bad. It's good Bible is getting a rest either way and GSN isn't shoving it down our throats (thank god!) even though the show is great.

Bible is a decent show, and I agree giving it a rest makes the show special than it already is. And, all the promotion for the show on CNN and other networks really must've helped. This show is a money maker and it is good to see it getting a rest leading up to the new season."

I stand approved. With DED taking over a little bit, here's a comment....

"More Dog Eat Dog? Really? How much can they grind this show? I guess it was too expensive for them to renew DoND, 1 vs. 100, or Millionaire, or to bring back Weakest Link and/or Greed, and so we're stuck with this. It's not even doing well in the ratings. But oh well, there's enough right with the schedule that I can overlook this mess."
All of them should've worked, especially 21. Now we go to....

The Fan of teh 4th quarter, and this time, it's Marques Johnson. No, not the basketball player, but the Custodian who used to work at Disney. Now he wants to talk about the network we love. And on we go....

(song fades out)

Pierre Kelly of GSN The Know here with Marques Johnson about to answer 5 questions, so why don't we start? First one, and I have to tell you, is David Goldhill a scumbag to putting too much Steve Harvey and Jeff Foxworthy on the air?

Marques: for overkilling those guys and how he went about it, absolutely. I mean you don't go alienating your core group by saying what he just said. And his attitude shows a lassiez-faire attitude.

Second question, Did Bible do better than Beat The Chefs?

Marques: Without a doubt! Chefs is just another cooking show.

What about the classics? Why are they doing poorly in the ratings?

Marques: for one, they have them airing in the morning during the time most people are going to work and school and they're airing them up against Wayne Brady's LMaD and TPiR. Plus, I don't know if this is true or not but some networks have used focus groups to see how they like shows. So maybe GSN has been secretly using focus groups to determine that. I don't know on that one.

Fourth question: If the shows from GSN 10 years ago were to return, would you watch it?

Marques: depends on which ones they are and how often they over-air them.

Last question, if you could brgin back one classic to the GSN schedule for good measure, what would it be and why?

I would say TPiR but b/c of the controversy surrounding the contract w/ CBS and/or Barker, I doubt that one. I would want Classic Concentration on there but won't happen thanks to NBC's hoarding of the rights to any version of Concentration. Probably Supermarket Sweep maybe since it probably doesn't have as much controversy w/ the stupid one-two season lease b-s rule that's going on w/ Freemantle and Sony does.

That's all 5, Marques, thanks for joining me here.

Marques: you're welcomed.
