Squid Game: The Challenge faced an independent safety assessment after contestants on the Netflix reality series required medical attention during filming.

Britain's Health and Safety Executive — or HSE as it is more commonly known — reminded producers to plan properly for risk on the re-creation of the blockbuster Korean drama, but ultimately decided that no further action was necessary.

One of the largest reality television shows ever mounted, responsibility for production was shouldered by two UK producers: Studio Lambert, maker of The Traitors, and The Garden, producer of 24 Hours in A&E.

But sources allege that Netflix and the show's co-producing studios, Studio Lambert and The Garden, have downplayed the gravity of the hellish day. Additionally, they believe news coverage missed a key point in their complaints: that the game seemed to be rigged to begin with.

The former players claim that some contestants — several of whom were TikTok and Instagram influencers — appeared to be pre-selected to advance to the next round no matter the outcome of the first game, and were fully mic'd up while a majority of the eliminated contestants had dummy microphones around their necks. One former player claims rules were bent to heighten a contestant's storyline, and another says they witnessed an eliminated player being put back into the game.

"It really wasn't a game show. It was a TV show, and we were basically extras in a TV show," one explains.

Three former players describe what contestants are now calling the "38-second massacre," when a large group of contestants made it across the finish line with time remaining on the clock, meaning they had successfully made it through to the next round. However, as they waited for producers to go over footage and get drone shots from the round, their blood squib packs went off minutes later, and they were told they had been eliminated, despite making it across the finish line. "They went crazy," one contestant recalls.

Two former contestants confirmed that some players, including themselves, were seeking legal advice to see if there were grounds for a lawsuit against the production studios for workplace safety violations, negligence and false pretenses. (Co-producer Studio Lambert, which is behind popular reality shows such as The Circle, Naked Attraction and The Traitors, has previously faced claims of making staffers work in "inhumane" conditions. Staffers on the UK's Gogglebox alleged in 2021 that they worked excruciatingly long hours and were made to go without breaks.)

Netflix previously said in a statement that three sought medical attention for minor conditions, but defended the safety of the production. In a joint statement from Netflix and co-producing studios The Garden and Studio Lambert on Friday, the production companies denied claims of a fixed game, saying "any suggestion that the competition is rigged or claims of serious harm to players are simply untrue."

"We've taken all the appropriate safety precautions, including after care for contestants – and an independent adjudicator is overseeing each game to ensure it's fair to everyone," the statement added.

One betting website have posted the odds for next year's SuperBowl halftime show act. Let's look at a few of them.

The Double clisk may be at +2000 but don't be surprised as to how their pronouns are to they/their. Actually one of them anyway.

Next, Emily Henry. With a west coast tour winding up and soon touring the the south, a +7500 will send betters into a cash flow.

Featured on the blog in recent weeks, Micall may be at +35000 but her career is just taking off. if she can make a full album, it'll be the full half hour.

Another big money maker: Weird Al Yankovic. A lot of fans may have clamored his chance to be on the sport's biggest night because if he wasn't on the field at Sofi Stadium 2 years ago......

News just in.  French Toast is fast becoming the most popular breakfast item on the menu over cereal. A report shows that most people skip out on Cheerios and get french toast sticks from fast food restaurants. However, one fast food company is doing well. Our Kayla Sullivan is live now from Strawberry Lake with this report.

Okay thanks Kayla. I wished I had some.

Never since the time when VH1 visited the Pink Palace Museum have we seen this..........

MTV and Smithsonian Channel(TM) today announced the premiere of The Exhibit: Finding The Next Great Artist, a first-of-its-kind docu-competition series in which seven diverse artists compete for a $100,000 cash prize and a once-in-a-lifetime, career-defining exhibit at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC. Each rising artist is tasked to create a museum exhibit based on the Hirshhorn's mission to feature art that "responds to history in real time." This series is produced in partnership with Smithsonian Channel(TM) and the Hirshhorn.

Fox is finally unmasking season 9 of The Masked Singer. As has been the case for every season before it, season 9 will once again be hosted by Nick Cannon and feature panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg when it returns on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The new episodes will also feature the supersized twists first introduced last season, namely, a "Champion of the Masked Singer"-style competition with sudden elimination and double unmaskings in every episode.

However, EW can reveal that, for the first time ever, panelists will have the opportunity to save a singer from looming elimination with the "Ding Dong Keep It On" Bell which can only be used once per group.

The show has also been given an updated stage design to incorporate the largest audience in Masked Singer history, who will once again be tasked with voting for their favorite masked celebrity performer. The singer with the least amount of votes will unmask mid-show, and the remaining two singers will face off in a Battle Royale performance, with the winner moving on to compete the following week, and the other contestant unmasking. It will all ultimately lead to three finalists left standing to compete in the semi-finals.

Another one of the fan-favorite season 8 twists is making a comeback in season 9 — themed nights — which will be weaved throughout the performers' song selections, costumes, celebrity guests, set design, and may even provide clues as to who is under the mask. This season's themes are set to include: "Abba Night," "New York Night," "DC Superhero Night," "Sesame Street Night," "'80s Night," "Movie Night," and "The Masked Singer in Space Night.".

Points, points, and more points to anyone who guessed that CBS would opt to replace The Late Late Show With James Corden with a reboot of the Comedy Central game show @midnight. With Corden getting ready to wind down the talk show this spring after eight years in the hosting seat, many have wondered who would fill his seat after his departure. On February 7, Deadline reported that the network would be going in a different direction with the show's time slot entirely. Rather than continue with the Late Late Show franchise, the network will tap Stephen Colbert to executive-produce a revival of @midnight along with Funny or Die, the company responsible for the original show. Chris Hardwick, who hosted the original show, will not be involved in the reboot.

@midnight originally aired on Comedy Central from 2013 to 2017 and featured a panel of three comedians, actors, and writers improvising joke responses to extremely online games with titles like "Name That Vine" and "Yahoo Answers." Clearly, these segments are going to need some sprucing up for the 2023 climate. The show was also known for interactive segments like "Hashtag Wars," where people on Twitter would play along and write tweets based on prompts like "#BadCereals" and "#RuinANurseryRhyme." Start sharpening your swords, for you may soon need to fight in these hashtag wars again. Not to mention the minor detail that the show airs at 12:30 a.m., making it more Near Midnight than @midnight.

"That's My Jam" is heading to Germany.

The musical format, which is based on Jimmy Fallon's popular segment-turned-spinoff, marks the sixth international version of the NBCUniversal Formats title, with the new adaptation set for German public broadcaster RTL's streaming service RTL+. Germany is a major market in the world of international unscripted formats, and a crucial pitstop for most TV distributors.

The new show will see musicians and brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz host the series. Best known for their band Tokio Hotel, Bill Kaulitz is the lead singer while Tom Kaulitz is the band's guitarist.

"That's My Jam mit Bill & Tom Kaulitz" is produced by SEO Entertainment on behalf of RTL+ in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.

The show is being adapted in Italy, Spain and Mongolia, and recently launched in the U.K. and France.

The first international adaptation of the format sold to French broadcaster TF1 under the name "Stéréo Club." Popular television and radio presenter Camille Combal ("Dancing With the Stars") hosted specials that aired last summer.

In the U.K., multi-BAFTA award-winning comedian Mo Gilligan hosted the show, which launched at the end of last year on flagship channel BBC One. The series is produced by Universal International Studios' Monkey, in partnership with UTAS.

Over in the U.S., NBC has also renewed Fallon's "That's My Jam" for a second season that's due to launch on March 7. The first season garnered more than 250 million views across linear, digital and social platforms.

Well so far throughout February, we've been looking at what the Uk meant to us and Channel 5 was fairly new by the late nineties and almost every original was made by Fremantle. They made 100%, Night Fever, the rights to Neighbours and Prisoner and even......this.

Before you even think about asking, yes it's an actual and I said the word......"Actual" spinoff of this show......

A daytime classic in itself where famed film composer Hans Zimmer did the theme tune and made a star out of Henry Kelly on BBC daytime. The rules of both compare and contrast to this..................

Which in turn was based on an unsold pilot.......

Unlike Going for Gold but like 100%One to Win featured low cash prizes for the first player to reach 21 points in the head-to-head round – just £200 per episode but with a bonus for five consecutive wins – and offered its champions the option to return on the next edition of the show.

So to put it this way, this was like the B&E method of letting contestants return on the next program. But also, this was later inspired by Jeopardy! dropping the 5-day rule. So that's what the UK meant to us. What about you?
