The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

CBS announced today the 16 celebrities competing in the new, two-hour sports comedy special PICKLED. The pickleball tournament, produced by Stephen Colbert's Spartina, Funny Or Die and CBS Studios, will air Thursday, Nov. 17 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. Emmy Award-winner Stephen Colbert of THE LATE SHOW hosts this hilarious and cutthroat pickleball competition, featuring teams playing against each other to benefit the non-profit Comic Relief US and ultimately win the coveted totem of excellence: the Colbert Cup!

"If you love pickleball and you love celebrities and you love helping people, you're going to love watching these celebrities help people by playing pickleball," said host Stephen Colbert.

"Funny Or Die is so proud to produce PICKLED. Along with Stephen Colbert, CBS and our celebrity players, we all came together for two great causes: to support Comic Relief US and to add more articles about Pickleball to everyone's newsfeed," said Mike Farah, CEO of Funny Or Die.

"Comic Relief US is thrilled to be a part of this special entertainment event to support the millions of children and families living in poverty. Thank you to the amazing Stephen Colbert, Spartina, CBS, Funny Or Die and all of our celebrity friends who will now get to play Pickleball for a good cause!" said Alison Moore, CEO of Comic Relief US.

The 16 celebrities who will team up and battle it out on the PICKLED court are: Jimmie Allen, Murray Bartlett, Dierks Bentley, Jaime Camil, Will Ferrell, Max Greenfield, Luis Guzman, Phil Keoghan, Daniel Dae Kim, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tig Notaro, June Diane Raphael, Kelly Rowland, Paul Scheer, Aisha Tyler and Emma Watson.

All-star announcers, including Cari Champion, John Michael Higgins and Bill Raftery, add color and commentary to the thrilling matches. After the national anthem is performed as a duet by singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins and Stephen Colbert, the 16 celebrities take to the court to battle for the honor of being named the PICKLED champions.

Stephen Colbert's Spartina, Funny Or Die and CBS are joining forces with Comic Relief to re-ignite the magic of creating change through comedy with PICKLED. Calls to action during the broadcast will raise funds to support Comic Relief's safety programs, which address the life-altering impact of homelessness, rootlessness and lack of safety often experienced by children and families living in poverty.

In addition to funds raised from the broadcast event and at ComicRelief.org/pickled, Comic Relief will also be engaging pickleball leagues, lovers and communities across the U.S. to get in on the fun to help children and families experiencing homelessness.

That was Frosk with a rant of important stuff when she was supposed t talk about Red Dead Redemption. That led to this and now she's out of a job.

Comcast's Spectacor division is pulling the plug on video game-centric network G4 TV, whose early incarnation in the 2000s remains a cultural touchstone for many millennials, just a year after its relaunch.

In a memo set to be sent out to all employees, Spectacor CEO Dave Scott explained that the company's investment and efforts to revive the network just didn't gain traction.

A few dozen employees and contract workers are affected by the shutdown. Comcast said it will assist them with outplacement and consider some for internal opportunities.

The departure over the summer of Russell Arons, an experienced digital media exec who had come aboard as G4's president in 2021, was a precursor to today's news. Her duties were added to the portfolio of Joe Marsh, a Comcast Spectacor vet who has been CEO of T1, an international esports joint venture with Korea's SK Telecom.

The current iteration of G4 is smaller and less focused on traditional linear TV than was its predecessor. It has announced a programming slate including a revived version of original G4 mainstays Attack of the Show! and Xplay, plus comedy Boosted, Japanese competition series Ninja Warrior, esports competitions and Dungeons & Dragons limited series.

es más que passowrd, ¡es Pssword en España!

Atresmedia Televisión in Spain has picked up rights to Fremantle's word-guessing gameshow, Password.

The show will be produced locally by Fremantle Spain, with the remake following the format's revival in the US by NBC earlier this summer.

The format follows celebrities as they team up with contestants and are give one word clues to help them guess each pre-defined password and win a cash prize. It is part of Fremantle's entertainment slate at this year's MIPCOM, which starts today.

Rob Clark, director of global entertainment at Fremantle, said: "This is a timeless, translatable format and Password's long-running success around the world is testament to that. Atresmedia Televisión has a strong portfolio of successful formats in the Spanish market so Password will be a great addition to their catalogue."

You can run but.........

"Run for the Money" is a reality competition show where celebrity participants can win a cash prize based on the time you spend running away from hunters. If you can escape to the end, you will win a large sum of money... Do you choose to turn yourself in? Or will you keep running to the end for money and for pride?

For 18 years since it first aired in 2004 on Fuji TV, Run for the Money has been a "real-life tag" game show popular throughout Japan among people of all ages. Inspired by "onigokko," the traditional Japanese game of tag, this popular show packs in as many thrills as possible and has set the standard for survival game shows in Japan. In 2009, it won Best Game or Quiz Programme at the Asian Television Awards, and in 2010 was nominated in the Non-scripted Entertainment category at the International Emmy Awards. The series became a hit after being broadcast in Japan and several other countries in Asia. A short-lived American version, simply titled "Cha$e", aired on Syfy.

Run for the Money has now been scaled up and the new episodes will come to Netflix. 29 participants, including up-and-coming young actors, idols and artists, popular comedians, professional athletes and others, will attempt to escape the clutches of the most feared hunters yet, claim the biggest cash prize to date, and engage in a chaotic and epic battle.

"Run for the Money" drops on Netflix November 15.

HBO Max, suck on this!

Netflix is undercutting Disney+ on price by a dollar a month as it prepares for a landmark expansion into advertising-supported streaming.

The company said its new subscription tier, Basic with Ads, will cost $6.99 a month and will launch November 3 in the U.S., more than a month before Disney's December 8 rollout of the ad-supported version of Disney+. Canada and Mexico will get the new plan November 1 and two days later it will go live in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, and the UK, with Spain following on November 10. In the U.S., the entry-level price will be less than half the cost of the most popular tier, Standard, which is $15.49 a month.

Disney has announced both price hikes and a new ad-supported version of Disney+. When that new tier launches on December 8, it will be $7.99 a month, which is currently the stand-alone price for the ad-free Disney+. After December 8, the ad-free Disney+ will go to $10.99, though many consumers opt for the bundle of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, which offers savings on the regular price of each one.

In a blog post, Netflix COO Greg Peters said there will be four to five minutes of ads per hour, with both series and feature films being interrupted by spots. (Watch a video below showing how it will look.)

Time for a Mistplay game break. And the question is thus.............

https://youtu.be/h2vDDeFnXmI

Before he starred in Knight Rider, David Hasselhoff was one of the stars in what 1978 space opera?

Space opera is the keyword so think on it after we get Svengoolie back in the Spotify Soundstage. Ready? Good, here goes.

And what's the answer to this?

In an interview with Variety, director Luigi Cozzi described Starcrash as "science fantasy" as opposed to science fiction.[6] Cozzi also stated that although people assume Starcrash was an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Star Wars, the design of the picture and its script were developed prior to the release of Star Wars.[6] The film's producer and screenwriter, Nat Wachsberger, and his son, producer Patrick Wachsberger, who had just developed the American production company Film Enterprises Productions, signed on to the film in May 1977 during the Cannes Film Festival after viewing sample work created by Cozzi for investors.[6]
