Jordan Sailors: From coast to coast and around the world, welcome to....

Now, America's favorite contestant, Pierre Kelly

Me: Thanks Jordan who joined us virtually to volunteer for this session while our announcer Colbi King is out of Podcast Hill for just 2 weeks after 1 month into her job. She deserves a vacation. Anyways, this is Game Show Live! where we get lit and get involved.

(song stops)

As none of you viewers know, I sit around in my office every morning listening to AM 1240 up in Zanesville while playing Disney Emoji Blitz, WWE Champions or what have you. Most of the playlist in on the station is considered love songs, so we at Live! have found a way to fix that since we're in February. All month long, we're giving you a listen to slow jams but played on unsexy instruments. It may be weird, but we'll try.  Believe us. Here to give us a lift is Rachel Texiera, who hails from Washington State. She'll give us the jams from yesteryear with instruments to make it sound interesting. We think. Here she comes for our very first installment.

Real cool. She'll be back in the Pandora song break for another one. But we're speeding along through the blog, so let's start with.....

The Double Toasted opening toss up story.

NBC is not yet ready to say "goodbye" to Weakest Link.

The network has picked up a second season of the game show, hosted by Jane Lynch. Production on season two, which will run for 13 episodes, is set to begin later in the year.

"Audiences have clearly embraced this smart, fun and completely addicting show, and it's been a great addition to the NBC lineup," said Jenny Groom, executive vp unscripted content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "A huge thank you to Jane, our friends at BBC Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio and everyone who has been instrumental in keeping the DNA of the original format intact while simultaneously adding new flourishes that make it as relevant and popular as ever."

Weakest Link has been a fairly steady performer for NBC so far this season. Through nine episodes the series has averaged a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.75 million viewers with a week of delayed viewing, according to Nielsen. Per NBC figures, it has drawn a 1.2 in the key ad demographic and 5.6 million viewers per episode, including on digital platforms, since its premiere.

"I'm thrilled that Weakest Link will return for another season," Lynch said. "It has been my honor to bring back this classic game show loved by millions. I also look forward to challenging the brain power of our players while baiting them to turn against one another for the chance to win some life-changing cash. And, of course, for my own enjoyment, and not to mention the opportunity to say, 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye.' several times an episode."

Added Valerie Bruce, general manager of BBC Studios, Los Angeles Productions, "As the fastest and fiercest game show on TV, ‘Weakest Link’ has been immortalized in pop culture. The format has proven longevity, attracting global audiences for the past two decades and we’re thrilled to celebrate its latest success in the U.S. Our Los Angeles production arm is excited to partner with NBC on a second season of the series with Jane Lynch, whose quick wit, humor and shrewdness are captivating."

After years of breaking into TV programs with commercials, Pepsi wants to get into a little show business of its own.

“Cherries Wild” represents something different for the glitzy soda marketer, which has entertained viewers for decades with ads starring Michael Jackson, Madonna and Britney Spears. The half-hour trivia game show, backed by Pepsi and Fox and set to air Sundays starting February 14, represents a tacit understanding by a major marketer that it needs new tools to reach people who might be interested in buying its beverages.

“Consumers are in control more than ever,” says Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing at Pepsi, in an interview. “They have skip buttons. They can DVR-fast-forward. They can pay to eliminate ads with a subscription.” As a result, he adds, “this concept of interrupting content with your message has serious limitations. As fans are consuming, they don’t want to be interrupted.”

The effort to keep the consumer engaged will no doubt offer both the network and the beverage giant new kinds of distractions – and not just the sight of host Jason Biggs or the three-story-high slot machine that stands on the “Cherries Wild” set each week.

Pepsi isn’t just a sponsor of the program. It’s a producer, and its executives were involved in everything from the set design – which includes Pepsi colors – to the shape of the buttons contestants press. As an advertiser, Pepsi monitors ratings because they determine how much it must pay to run a commercial in a particular show. As a showrunner, the ratings will help determine whether “Cherries Wild” can continue beyond its initial run. Fox, meanwhile, is getting into business with a client who helps pay its bills. Indeed, while the network will sell ads in “Cherries Wild,” it will keep the commercial breaks free from ads from rival soft drinks, says Suzanne Sullivan, executive vice president of ad sales for Fox Entertainment – even though category exclusivity was not initially part of the deal.

Putting on a show helps get Pepsi to all kinds of new frontiers. To heighten interest in the game, Pepsi and Fox have launched a mobile app that lets viewers at home play along and vie for prizes – the better to engage customers who often are using a second device while watching TV, and often playing some sort of game, says Kaplan.

Based on consumer research, the company believes its customers are eager to take a chance, and would even embrace the idea of being famous, he adds. “The viewer will be able to play for prizes as well, which is not something we can typically pull off in a lot of our shows,” says Sullivan.

Keke Palmer has been tapped as host of Disney+’s upcoming unscripted build competition series Foodtastic. Palmer also will executive produce the series in which contestants are challenged to create Disney-inspired works of art made out of food. NYC’s City Cakes founder Chef Benny Rivera and Flour Shop founder Amirah Kassem will serve as judges for Foodtastic. The 11-episode series started production this week and is slated to premiere on Disney+ later this year.

Per the series description, in each self-contained episode, three teams of food artists transform iconic characters into extravagant masterpieces that tell a story from Disney’s legendary IP. The food sculptures will be judged on their design, technical skills and narrative, and not by taste. Unused food from each competition will be donated to local food banks.

Palmer most recently hosted the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards where she also was nominated for her work as a host on ABC’s GMA3: Strahan, Sarah and Keke. Palmer starred in the feature film Hustlers, opposite Jennifer Lopez, and recently wrapped production on the upcoming movie Alice. Currently, she is lending her voice to the new character Maya in the upcoming Disney+ revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

Foodtastic is produced by Endemol Shine North America. In addition to Palmer, Josh Silberman, Sarah Happel Jackson and Endemol Shine North America’s Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre and Michael Heyerman are executive producers.

Heating up...............

Netflix has handed reality dating show Too Hot to Handle a two-season renewal after its blockbuster first outing last year, but there are changes planned: The show has shifted location and the shoot has become a co-production between two Fremantle production outfits.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos hailed Too Hot to Handle as its “biggest competition show ever” after the series premiered last April, but the streamer has been patient about committing to further seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, production is underway on two new seasons, which will revolve around the same conceit: A bunch of singletons will be transported to an exotic location where they hope to find love, but there’s a catch — they are forbidden from kissing, canoodling, and self-gratification. Every fumble results in the cash prize dropping.

The first season was shot in Mexico, but Deadline reports that the next two are being filmed on the Turks and Caicos Islands. To cope with the double season order during the pandemic, Fremantle UK’s entertainment specialist Thames has been brought in to co-produce alongside Talkback, the label that created and produced the first season.

March can't here any faster because.............

Guy Fieri is back with the toughest bracket-style culinary competition where 16 of the best chefs from the East and West coasts go head-to-head in sudden-death cooking battles on Tournament of Champions II. The action-packed, sports-like tournament kicks off on Sunday, March 7th at 8pm, and each 90-minute episode is filled with unpredictable action, fierce rivalries, and shocking upsets. The chefs' skills will be pushed to the limit in each round, as they face new ingredients, tougher cooking styles and more interesting equipment options on the randomizer machine that determines the parameters for each cook-off, including the protein, produce, equipment, cooking style, and time. The pressure is intense, and emotions are high as the elite chefs enter this blind competition not knowing who their opponents will be, or what cooking challenges they will face, and will have their dishes judged blindly by a panel of distinguished experts. Hunter Fieri follows all the action backstage during the deliberation, capturing the reactions of the chefs as their dishes are judged, getting the raw emotions of elation and frustration as bracket victors move on while others face elimination. The chefs will only go as far as their dishes take them - win and advance or lose and go home. Fans can also stream extended episodes of the tournament and after show on discovery+ featuring even more nail-biting action and behind-the-scenes conversations with Guy and the competitors.

"Over 12 million viewers devoured the edge-of-your-seat culinary battles on Tournament of Champions last year, with the finale ranking as the #1 cable program in its timeslot and becoming one of Food Network's highest-rated telecasts since 2019," said Courtney White, President, Food Network. "The new season is like a pressure cooker and will captivate audiences with intense rivalries, redemptions, and rematches. There's no way to predict what will happen in this sudden-death competition."

"This year, the stakes are even higher because every time a chef wins a round, we are donating $10,000 in their name to their favorite local restaurant that is in need," said Guy Fieri.

The chefs representing the East Coast are: Madison Cowan, Maneet Chauhan, Darnell Ferguson, Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, Christian Petroni and Bryan Voltaggio. The chefs showing off their chops from the West Coast are: Cat Cora, Antonia Lofaso, Brian Malarkey, Aaron May, Jet Tila, Michael Voltaggio, and defending champion and last season's winner Brooke Williamson. For the last bracket slots on the East and West Coast, Guy has invited eight chefs to prove their worthiness in the arena and battle in a wild card tournament to earn the coveted 8th seeds.

Before the competition begins, fans can relive last season with Guy in a special lookback at season one on March 7th at 7pm as he highlights the biggest victories, the most surprising upsets, the wildest moments, and the most outrageous randomizer combinations. It's a high-stakes competition unlike any before. Simon Majumdar and Justin Warner deliver real-time play-by-play as all the action unfolds in front of a live audience. Deciding who advances in each round is a rotating panel of expert judges including, Scott Conant, Giada De Laurentiis, Traci Des Jardins, Rocco DiSpirito, Marcus Samuelsson, Nancy Silverton, Ming Tsai, and Jonathan Waxman.

Unexpected challenges, major upsets and surprises fill this tournament, which concludes in a supersized two-hour episode on Sunday, April 18th at 8pm. Only one chef will emerge as the champion and will drive off with an all-new SUV!

Throughout the competition, join Guy as he sits down with Justin and Simon in the after-show as they break down what went wrong and what went right for each chef, and share never before seen footage from the battles.

For a second year, Food Network is partnering with Twitter to launch a digital-only competition where fans can fill out their own personalized brackets for a chance to win up to $5,000 in prizes. Viewers can head to Food Network's Twitter page from March 14 through March 21 for an individualized bracket experience sponsored by Hyundai featuring exclusive content, including videos with Guy and each of the 16 contestants. Fans will be able to share their brackets on social media and track their standings as the competition unfolds..

The ultimate cartoon trivia showdown is coming to Nickelodeon with the premiere of Tooned In, an epic gameshow that puts contestants to the test to prove their animation knowledge. Hosted by an animated A.I. supercomputer, three kids compete in rounds of trivia for a chance to be declared the episode's big winner. Tooned In airs Mondays through Thursdays on Nickelodeon beginning Monday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m. (ET/PT), with the season finale airing Thursday, March 4.

In Tooned In, an animated A.I. robot, Nicky (voiced by Rama Vallury, AOK), hosts a gameshow where kid contestants compete in a battle of Nickelodeon cartoon knowledge for the chance to be named the night's big winner and take home exciting prizes. Each episode features three kids who must solve animation questions across slime-filled rounds of trivia until only one contestant is left in the competition. The final kid will then be declared the episode's big winner and move on to a special prize round to compete against Nicky and climb the robot's motherboard for a chance to win the $1,000 grand prize.

During the week of March 1, Tooned In will get interactive with the Screens Up app and on NickPlay.com, where kids at home can play along in real time to answer the same questions being asked during the show. The top four users with the highest scores will be displayed on-air at the end of each episode and the top 100 users will be displayed within the game.

Tooned In is co-executive produced by Rich Brown (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Beat the Clock) and Michael Dugan (Trivial Takedown, The Hollywood Puppet Show). Flavia Casas (Group Chat) serves as senior producer with Phil Moore (Ryan's Mystery Playdate) serving as producer. The series is directed by Genji Keen (The Dungeon Run, Good Mythical Morning). Production of Tooned In for Nickelodeon is overseen by Ashley Kaplan, Senior Vice President, Digital Studios; and Luke Wahl, Vice President, Digital Studios.

A year after launching his latest company, John de Mol is taking out what he hopes to be a successful global format with Marble Mania on the heels of a promising launch for the celebrity marble racing show in his native Netherlands.

In each self-contained episode of the family-friendly game show, three celebrities, who have something in common and play for charities, face off, each competing with their own color marbles that are sent racing on elaborate tracks, including a Formula 1 track, a Luna park, an outdoor Winter track and a Jungle track. Each round starts with a skill assignment, such as bowling, mini golf or a special version of penalty shooting, which earns the celebrity contestants marbles for the races. They culminate In the finale, where no less than 6000 marbles take part in the race.

Last week, Marble Mania got off to a strong ratings start on de Mol-owned SBS6 where he often tries out new formats. The show’s premiere drew 1.4 million viewers for a 22,8% market share in the 18-44 demographic and boosting its time slot by more than 221%. After three days of playback, the debut’s viewership grew to 1.9 million.

“It’s a dream start,” de Mol said.

Oh Rats!

buzzy British entertainment format that’s described as a cross between The Masked Singer and Hell’s Kitchen is the latest show to cross the pond after TBS ordered a U.S. version of Rat In The Kitchen. Comedian Natasha Leggero is to host the 10-part series for the WarnerMedia-backed network with celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre as judge.

The series is produced by ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media and was devised by Glenn Hugill and his UK-based ITV-owned production company Possessed.

The series follows a group of cooks competing to win a cash prize across a series of challenges. However, all the while, one of them is trying to sabotage their efforts – the rat in the kitchen.

It is a whodunit cooking format and a game of high stakes cat and mouse where viewers get to play detective. In each episode, a mix of professional chefs and home cooks compete in a series of cooking challenges, earning cash in their bank for every dish that impresses Chef Ludo (left). But they’ll have to avert the meddling of an undercover mole (the rat) determined to sabotage the dishes and undermine their chances at victory. The stakes: if the rat avoids detection, he/she wins big money. But, if found out, the rat will have to hunt for cheddar elsewhere.

Mary Ann Wittoske will begin.

"I just saw a commercial about the return of Chain reaction, I can't wait. Could we get rid of the game show, Get A Clue?"

All I can say is...........No. Next is Mary H. Beam.

"I do not like “People Puzzler”. Please bring back “Catch 21”. Thank you."

Because.....you don't like Leah Remini's voice? Next is Lezil Payne Welge.

BTW that ppl Puzzler is so sad to have to watch with Leah Remini Constantly Putting Ppl Down and her stupid ass don't even know WTF cornhole boards are 🤣🤣 Duhhhh"

But not sad enough. Next is Amy Clandestine.

WHAT did y’all do to my show Get A Clue?!! One guess? Tf? You took all the fun out of the show! Hearing the wrong answers was most of the appeal of the show! Lost me as a viewer!

But the fun of Get a Clue is how fast teams are against the clock. We go next to Bette Jean Thompson.

You know we love to watch the Chase, and while we're aware there are only repeats remaining, we feel like the limited number you continue to abuse us with drives us closer to getting all of our programming from Amazon etc. Prove me wrong. Prove you not so cheap you can't afford a new rotation with the many years they've been on. Stop insulting us.

Hmmm......ever watched the ABC version? Next, Amanda Carson.

After seeing Brooke Burns political bullish*t....I will never watch another game show that she is affiliated with.... new OR reruns. If she's so thrilled about Biden...I say she puts her money where her mouth is....let Hunter Biden babysit her 3 yr old UNSUPERVISED for a few hours. There ya go Brooke.... he's all yours.

Can't she just watch Hallmark Channel. Let's end this thing with Luwanna Carter.

I watched People Puzzler for the first time last night. It's a good show and I like it; but, what is wrong with Leah Remini. She used to be so pretty, but she looks like part of her face is paralyzed especially her upper lip. I don't know what she had done, but it certainly didn't help her looks.

Well, contratry to popular belief, she had botox and her upper lip had nothing to it. So there you go.

Time for a Mistplay Game Break. We all know Marisha Ray is married to Matthew Mercer. Yeah, the guy who introduced you to nearly every episode of Critical Role which is the besy way to spend a Must see TV show on the interwebs, but before that, she played what DCEU character on the Interwebs?

Think about that after a Pandora Song Break as Rachel comes back again to sing for us.

And can we give you the answer? Of course. Ruby Rose would've gave you an extra hint as to.......and also played by Julie Newmar in the 1960's.................Batgirl! Here's the trailer.

Maybe Marisha should replace that new actress. I can't stand her!

Awashed on the shore of the banks of the Be More Specific Ocean lied an array of treasure chests the pirates forgot. Game Show Live! is bringing you a special exclusive at shows that have never seen the light of day. prepare yourself for a month of........................

Buried Treasure.

Ahoy, we found a discovery.

Puzzle Roulette is what was buried inside. The same guys that gave us the game that coined the phrase in the Uk "Say What you See" that starred Roy Walker and a nifty theme tune to go with it recycled many for an unsold pilot that combined a roulette wheel with you guessed it, puzzles. Jim Lange hosted while Shari Paulson played dealer to 4 people in an all out battle for money trying to be the first to get to $1000. In the bonus, you earned $100 a pop and $10,000 if you wiped them all out. Then you could use your chip on lucky numbers to see if its ten times the amount or perhaps the 25k. It was good, but Classic Concentration was already on TV at that time and it would've been competition, yet Puzzle Roulette defied what it was plus newer graphics would've helped.

Closing Theme

That's it for this week, today's consolation prize is a torque screw. Perfect for wine bottles, just twist it open and walla. it's faster and you don't need an actual corkscrew to get that cork out.
